WHY YOUR ANSWER SHOULD BE “YES”

TO COACH FOR WRRA

WRRA's 2024 Fall programming was drastically curtailed due to a lack of Coaches and  Coxswains. Our dependence on high school and college Coaches and Coxswains has led us  to this situation. In the past, when schools started later and our numbers were smaller, we  made this system work. No longer. We now must look within our own club for Coaches to  close the gap and keep us rowing. Email Tim Marcovy, Director of Coaching and Coxing, to  get started: coaching@westernreserverowing.com

NEWS ON THE NEW SCULLING BUILDING ROOF:

Over the past several weeks, the roof of the sculling building has been successfully replaced. This was a significant project, and we owe its success to the combined efforts of many individuals.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make room in the main building and assisted with moving boats. Special recognition goes to Michael Costanzo, Florin Filipescu, Bob Gannon, Heidi Lamb, Aaron Marcovy, Greg Pacholski, John Pacholski, Bill Rickman, and Nate Shoemaker, who dedicated several weekends to this project. We also want to acknowledge the incredible support from Saint Ignatius rowers Alex Gillespie, Evan Vroutos, Jack Farrell, Leo Amendola, and Harry Fuehrer. Your hard work and teamwork were invaluable. We also extend our gratitude to Terry Holiday and Michelle Fox for generously providing lunch to the crew.

Your collective efforts saved the organization nearly $30,000, helping us keep membership dues more affordable for everyone.

Greg Pacholski captured the project in a series of time-lapse videos, condensing 11 hours of work into just a few minutes. You can view them here:

Private scullers can begin moving their boats back into the sculling building starting Friday, January 3rd. CRF Buildings and Grounds will send a separate email with scheduled times when additional assistance will be available.

Thank you all for your support and dedication to this project.

WINTER ERGING

The Cleveland Rowing Foundation (CRF) is offering a Winter Erging membership for those WRRA members who are not full year members with CRF. The cost for the Winter Season is $90. These groups include:

• Learn to Row (you did not sign up for Summer Rowing)

• Summer Rowing League

• Intermediates

• Veterans

There are times other member organizations have use of the erg room and the ergs are filled with their members. We will be monitoring the room to see if there are times not being utilized. All of the equipment will be in use when CWRU and St Joseph Academy are scheduled to erg. The best times to erg will be with the Master’s Team on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00pm, Saturday at 8:00am or with the Vets on Friday nights starting at 6:00pm.

SQL/CQL certified individuals are welcome to use the erg room whenever a group session is not scheduled.

Please use this link to register for the CRF Winter Erging

If you have ANY questions, please reach out to me BEFORE you register. Thanks,

Heidi
