#16 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine of 2022

To all Artisans,

Our team has been fiercely working nonstop since early this morning when Wine Spectator released their full list of the Top 100 Wines of 2022.

We're proud to have 33 of the wines and counting! Check the collection every day this week for the new additions being added as they're confirmed.

We needed to highlight #16 right away as the last 8 cases of the vintage arrive tomorrow and are being 'gobbled' up by pre-orders as I write this. Only 1,474 cases were made in the first place, of what is surely one of California's most exceptionally under-priced wines.

For 20 years, McPrice (Mac) Myers has been making wines in Paso and Santa Barbara that compare to his contemporary neighbors like Saxum, Booker, Denner, Jonata, and others. The 'thing' is—he's hardly changed his prices over those two decades—so you're truly looking at the affordability of the 'good old days'

His 'Beautiful Earth' Red offered today will remind you of a full-throttle L'Aventure GSM, with small amounts of Cab, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel that are meant to represent the best lots from Mac's favorite Westside Vineyards in Adelaida and Willow Creek Districts.

Everything about this wine would imply it should be priced higher—but it isn'tand we're not arguing. Consider serving this new American classic for your holidays!

Cheers,
—James Tran

94 Points, #16 Top 100 of 2022 - Wine Spectator:
"Supple, rich and plump with personality, this blend has an array of black raspberry, smoked meat, cracked pepper and and black olive flavors that race toward the zesty finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. Drink now through 2030. 1,474 cases made." —TF

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Elderberry, black plum and floral hints of violet float across a seared-beef note on the nose of this blend of 48% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Petite Sirah and 2% Zinfandel. The palate is viscous and loaded with comforting flavors of black fruit and peppery spices, with just enough acidity to liven each sip." -MK (11/1/22)
