95 Points, #14 Top 100 of 2025 - Wine Spectator:

"Aromas of violet and wild herbs give way to flavors of black cherry, blackberry and black currant in this tense, saturated red, which is just beginning to relax and open up now, six years after the harvest. Shows terrific balance, with a long, black pepper–infused aftertaste. Sangiovese and Merlot. Drink now through 2045. 5,000 cases made, 2,500 cases imported." - BS

93 Points - Vinous:

"The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is a dark, beguiling wine. Wild cherry, kirsch, sweet tobacco, hard candy and cedar open nicely in the glass. Layered and persistent, with fine balance, the Riserva is another winner in this range. This is an especially dense, weighty style, but it works."

James visited Viticcio in Greve back in 2014:

Dear Artisans,

Our friends at Viticcio have done it again—no surprise when you consistently make mind-blowing and unfathomable values at this level.

This decadent Chianti Classico Riserva bursts from the bottle, and with six years of age, it has already unleashed waves of black and blue fruit while refining its impeccable structure.

Just this morning, Wine Spectator ranked it #14 in its Top 100 Best Wines of 2025, but it delivers well beyond that:

  • It’s the highest‑rated Chianti Classico Riserva of the entire 2019 vintage

  • In the full history of Wine Spectator, it is among only 22 Riservas ever rated 95 points

  • It’s the third time this wine has been included in their Top 100 of the Year list.

  • It has always been, and remains, the best you can buy at this price point.

As you can see from the photo collage above, this is a tiny operation. Only 5,000 cases were produced, and only half of those made it to the United States.

This is made from 100% organically farmed grapes and will age through 2045.

We're pleased to offer you the lowest price in the whole state. You know how we roll.

We received just 20 cases—actually, less, since I grabbed a few myself (and so did the staff… sorry!). Online orders are gobbling this up, so move fast!

All my best,

-James Tran
