Greetings!

2019 is a year of transition for The Council. It has been very rewarding working with our Advisory Board and Committees to envision and plan for our future.

One thing is clear, and that is that we will continue to be the go to resource for Wisconsin Businesses for leadership and support in building resilient, equitable and sustainable businesses. Through our programs and events, we will continue to bring top talented professionals and leading businesses together to solve our toughest business challenges and leverage key opportunities.

Our mission is to advance Wisconsin businesses forward on their sustainability journeys to becoming better fiscal, environmental and social stewards through engagement, education, innovation and recognition.  

This is why we have put together a program called 21st Century Pathways, a 4 month program to support your business in designing a customized road map for how to leverage today's sustainability challenges and opportunities while integrating sustainability into decision making throughout your organization. Businesses that participate will leave with a detailed three year plan, complete with ROIs for how to get the most value out of sustainability in today’s 21 st century marketplace.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Marketing and Communications Internship, Part-Time (Unpaid)

The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Counc il is looking for a Marketing and Communications Intern. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in sustainability, working for a mission driven non-profit that is helping the business community be better social and environmental stewards.
The Green Masters Program is a FREE resource available to all Wisconsin businesses that can serve as a blueprint for your sustainability initiatives. The Green Masters Program is an assessment and recognition program for Wisconsin businesses interested in improving and being recognized for their sustainability initiatives. Any business located within the state of Wisconsin is eligible to apply and as long as you have completed 1 action in each of our 9 categories of sustainability, you are accepted!
Wisconsin Sustainability Report
The 9 th annual Wisconsin Sustainability Report has been produced by students from UW-Madison. The report is an aggregate of public data from 2018 about the state of Wisconsin and highlights both successes and opportunities for our state. The metrics collected reflect a holistic view of the state’s performance, integrating economic, social and environmental indicators.
Award Nominations Open
The Business Friend of the Environment award highlights what Wisconsin companies are doing in the areas of sustainability, innovative technology and environmental stewardship. The goal of this awards program is to demonstrate to state policymakers, businesses and the public that sound environmental practices are good for Wisconsin and its business environment.

Nomination deadline is June 21, 2019.

21st Century Pathways - Integrating Sustainability into Decision Making

WMEP and WSBC have partnered to develop 21st Century Pathways. A program about integrating sustainability into decision making for businesses. Regardless of where your company is today, Pathways will elevate your business. 

This 5 session, four month program is designed to build a detailed road map and custom 3 year plan (with ROIs) to get the most value out of sustainability for your business.

Whether you are located in the Great Lakes region, middle-America or the Pacific Northwest water risks surround you. 

A first step in gaining awareness of your particular water risks is to understand how different types of water risks are material to your operations. 

Are you looking to mitigate water-related risks at your sites or even within your supply chain? Do you need a strategic framework to help identify water risks and opportunities and then put an action plan into place to address those risks and opportunities? If so, then WMEP can help your organization through AWS training. After the training, you will be equipped to advocate for water stewardship and implement the International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS Standard) at sites within your organization (industrial, agricultural or municipal).
