Supporting our Culinary Community
Our chapter is always looking for ways to support our students, apprentices and worthy causes connected to the culinary community.
This month our chapter donated $1,000.00 to support Chef Kahale Ahina and the ProStart Culinary Arts team at Bonney Lake High School. They won the state competition and are now on to the national championship in Washington DC. Please consider donating to this GoFundMe Link. It is expensive paying for airfare, hotels, and food for the team. Wishing your team, the best of luck.

YES, CHEF -by Marcus Samuelsson
It begins with a simple ritual: Every Saturday afternoon, a boy who loves to cook walks to his grandmother’s house and helps her prepare a roast chicken for dinner. The grandmother is Swedish, a retired domestic. The boy is Ethiopian and adopted, and he will grow up to become the world-renowned Chef Marcus Samuelsson. This book is his love letter to food and family in all its manifestations.
A James Beard Award–winning chef and the author of several cookbooks, Marcus Samuelsson is the owner and executive chef at Red Rooster Harlem in New York City. In 1995, he became the youngest chef ever to receive a three-star rating from The New York Times for his work at Aquavit. In 2003, the James Beard Foundation named him Best Chef: New York City.
Enjoy!
