President's Message from Gary Fuller
Hello Members and Friends,
Spring is finally here. Wow, it has been a long wait this year; blue skies and sunshine are just around the corner... things are looking up weather-wise. Hoping for a typical Northwest summer - 72 degrees and a slight breeze would be perfect.
Tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, and fresh herbs with lots of sweet basil are planted in my garden. I love this time of year with all the freshness of the new spring and of course baseball too. Nothing like reaping the rewards from planting to harvest. I can taste the fresh pesto now, zucchini fritters and bruschetta.

JULY
Our National Convention is in Las Vegas. See this link for more information.
Our lucky raffle winner WSCA apprentice Alex Hernandez will be attending the national conference for the first time. Should be a fantastic experience going to the seminar, listening to the keynote speakers Celebrity Chef, Ming Tsai of PBS fame, Chef Amaury Guichon with “School of Chocolate” competition on Netflix and Chef Elizabeth Falkner who has competed and judged for the Food Network, Cooking Channel, Bravo and NBC. I promised him dinner and maybe a couple of pulls at the slots.

NOBU, A MEMOIR -by Nobu Matsubisa
“What makes Nobu special, and what made him famous, is the spirit of what exists on these pages. He has the traditional Japanese perspective that there is great pride to be found in every element of doing a job well—no matter how humble that job is. Furthermore, he shows us repeatedly that success is as much about perseverance in the face of adversity as it is about innate talent.”
Enjoy!
