Lower premium rates for businesses in 2026

We’re lowering the average premium rate for businesses again in 2026 to $1.23 per $100 of insurable payroll, the lowest it’s been in more than 50 years. Reducing premium rates in 2026 will help businesses save $60 million compared to 2025, as they continue to face ongoing economic uncertainty.


The 2026 decrease means we’ve cut the average premium rate by more than 50 per cent over the last decade, resulting in cumulative savings for businesses of approximately $21.5 billion since 2016. Businesses’ individual 2026 premium rate(s) will be available exclusively online starting in November.

Fall surplus rebate update

To provide more support and provide relief to businesses when they need it most, we’re distributing an additional $2 billion to eligible, safe Schedule 1 businesses this fall. All eligible businesses will receive a credit on their account by October 31, 2025, which can be applied to future premiums, be invested in health and safety improvements or used to fund other needed investments.

Additional savings to help improve workplace safety

Are you ready to make your business safer and stronger? As a WSIB-registered business, you have free access to industry-specific resources like templates, online courses and practical manuals, to help make your workplace safer and meet your legal obligations – while saving up to $1,700 a year! 

To get started, simply log in to or sign up for your WSIB online services account and click "access free health and safety resources" on the business home menu. Click the "sign up" button and follow the prompts once you’re in the Business Safety Portal.

Got 10 minutes? That’s all you need to register!

Registering your business with us is quick and easy!

All you need to do is tell us your primary business activity, answer a few questions and we’ll tell you whether you need WSIB coverage. You’ll know if you need to register with us, get your WSIB account number and access to our online services right away, so you can spend less time setting up your account and more time focused on what matters – your business.

You can now use your online services account to report an injury, illness, exposure incident, noise-induced hearing loss, or fatality. When you report online, you give us more of the information we need right away. This means we'll have fewer follow-ups and can help people recover and return to work faster.
