Additional support for Ontario businesses

To help Ontario businesses respond to the ongoing uncertainty and unprecedented challenge of a global trade war, we’ll be distributing an additional $2 billion to safe, Schedule 1 businesses later this spring. These additional rebates will provide some certainty and relief to Ontario businesses when they need it most.

Honouring families through the Day of Mourning and Steps for Life

On Monday, April 28, we commemorate the National Day of Mourning as a day to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace.

The Day of Mourning gives us time to reflect on those whose lives have been forever changed by workplace tragedies. We encourage you to use these free resources to share the importance of the Day of Mourning with your employees, customers and networks.

You can also show support for families devastated by workplace tragedy by volunteering, donating to, or walking in Steps for Life. Fundraising walks are held in cities across the province and support Threads of Life, a national charity that helps families in Canada who have been affected by workplace tragedies.

Investing in your business and keeping people safe

WSIB-registered businesses now have free access to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety’s Business Safety Portal – a savings of up to $1,700 a year! It’s another way we’re here to help you continue investing in your business during uncertain times and keep your people safe.

The Business Safety Portal offers a range of industry-specific and scalable resources, like templates, online courses and practical manuals you can use to help make your workplace safer and help meet your legal obligations.

To get to this portal, simply log in to or sign up for your WSIB online services account and click "access free health and safety resources" on the business home menu. Then click the "sign up" button and follow the prompts once you’re in the Business Safety Portal.

Upcoming changes to online reporting

This spring, we're making changes to how you report injuries and illnesses online. Soon you'll be able to report an injury, illness, exposure incident, noise-induced hearing loss or fatality through your online services account. When you report online you can provide more of the information we need upfront, reducing the number of follow-ups to get people the support they need to recover and return to work.

Recognizing small business health and safety leaders

We’re now accepting submissions for our 2025 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards!

You could win up to $10,000 by telling us what you’ve done over the past year to promote health and safety in your workplace!

The awards recognize the health and safety achievements of independently owned and operated businesses with fewer than 50 employees.

Enter by May 14, 2025, and you could be one of three winners:

Gold – $10,000
Silver – $6,000
Bronze – $4,000
