If you would like to update your district/campus email preferences or change your email address, please click on the Update Profile link at the footer of this email. You will receive an email from Constant Contact which will allow you to update your information and campus news preferences.

Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

This Thursday, September 3rd, we will have a Q&A session with Dr. Goddard and all of the campus principals from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM.  There is a link below where you can submit any questions you might have to provide clarity around what procedures will be in place once we start back on September 8.

At the end of next week, an email will be coming out from the district that will allow you to change your learning environment if you wish.  Be on the lookout for this email.

This weekend is a long weekend in observance of Labor Day.  I wish you and your family a healthy, safe and fun three day weekend.

Respectfully,

Kevin

New Information

NEW! Walk The Springs Procedures
Arrival/Drop Off:
Students can begin to arrive at 8:30 AM (7th grade) or 1:00 PM (8th grade).  Parents will need to enter the campus as they always have, using the northeast drive (closest to Country Club Road).  They should pull around to the back of the campus where Mr. Parker will be directing traffic.  Tables will be set up in the courtyard (cafeteria if it is raining) where students can pick up their schedules to follow for the day.  The bell schedule and map of the campus will also be given to the students.  After picking up their schedule, they will enter the building through the courtyard doors (cafeteria doors if it is raining) and make their way directly to their first class.  Teachers will be in the hall helping students find their classrooms if needed.  Click here for our new arrival/drop off map.

Schedule:
Students will follow their schedule for A Days first (1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th periods).  They will then transition to their B Day classes and go to their 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th periods.  While they are in their 3rd period class and their 4th period class, students will go to their respective lunches.  3rd and 4th period teachers will remind students which lunch to attend.  Students will not be eating lunch.  During classes and lunches, teachers will visit with students about procedures and expectations.  Click here for a copy of the Walk The Springs bell schedule.

What Do Students Need to Bring?
The only thing students might want to bring is a water bottle.  Water fountains will not be in use.  We will have water filling stations available for students to fill water bottles.  We are still waiting for the water fountain attachments to arrive that you probably have seen at other campuses.  These should arrive and be installed over the next two weeks.  Until then, water coolers will be available for students to use to fill up their water bottles.

Remember, the cell phone policy states that students at WSMS are not allowed to have their cell phones during the day.  They do not need to bring school supplies at this time.

Dismissal:
We anticipate there being more cars in the pick-up line this year.  Therefore, we will need to create more space so cars will not be on Lucas Road.  Student pick-up will now be in the front of the building.  Cars will still enter the campus from the northeast drive (closest to Country Club Road).  The car line will wrap around the back of the campus and will split with cars able to stay along the curb next to the courtyard or through the driveway back by the tennis courts.  Cars will stay in two lines along the west drive.  Mr. Parker will then merge traffic as cars pull to the front of the campus along the curb to load students.  Students will exit the building using doors that open to the front of the campus and find their car.  Staff will be available to help guide students during dismissal.  Click here for a copy of our dismissal/pick up map.

NEW! WSMS Yearbook Staff Needs Your Help
Hi WSMS families. Your yearbook staff, WSMS Rosette, is planning this year's yearbook and would love for you to share photos with us. Covid-19 may be changing our daily routines, but the yearbook staff wants to assure you that we will still have a top quality product that captures this year for your student.

Please consider emailing [email protected] (Rosette adviser, Beverly Zetsche) any photos of your WSMS student beginning in June and throughout the school year. The photos can be of your student at home learning, a family vacation, fun with friends, or any event that showcases your student.

Please include the following details in your email:
1. Who: First and Last name of the WSMS student and any other friends/family members in the photo
2. Where: the place or location of event in photo
3. When: the date of the event
4. What/Why: additional information about the event that you want to share

A Rosette member may contact the student for additional information if we are able to use the photo.

Since we have a virtual and eventually a face to face model, we are in the unique position to capture new modules of Leopard Life. Our goal is to focus on all student life on campus and outside of the school setting.  Thanks in advance for your support!

ParentPortal Update Needed
The PowerSchool ParentPortal is now open for you to complete the online Enrollment & Student Information Forms. Please click here to access the Parent Portal. Parents will access the enrollment forms in their PowerSchool Parent Portal - left navigation panel - "Enrollment & Student Forms." Completion of these forms is required every year for every student. Please take a few minutes to update your contact information and other forms.

Student Spirit Shirts!
As part of the WSMS student experience, we would like to offer a spirit shirt for all 7th and 8th grade students.  These will be shirts that students can wear to school,  pep rallies, athletic events, and field trips.  During campus field trips and community service events, we will ask students to wear their spirit shirt to identify them as a WSMS student.  Spirit shirts may purchased by clicking here.
