Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

I hope your child’s experience for the first week of school was nothing but positive.  Aside from the weather and challenges with transportation, the week went very well from my perspective.

Many, if not most, of you have received an email notification regarding a positive COVID-19 case on campus.  The messaging is consistent no matter what campus it might come from.  Just to clarify, we are now sending email notifications to the parents of any student who has a class with a confirmed Covid positive student.  If you receive more than one notification, it is not a duplicate.  You will receive one notification for each positive Covid case in your child’s class.  Due to privacy laws, we cannot confirm which class your child had this contact.  Additionally, Lovejoy ISD has changed the requirements for quarantining due to close contact.  Students who have been in close contact with a positive Covid student are no longer required to quarantine.

With all of that being said, please monitor your child’s health and if you notice the onset of any symptoms please keep your child home.

Have a great week!

Kevin

This school year, we will be returning to an eight period day. Please click here for a copy of our bell schedule.

Parent Drop and Pick Up
Please be patient with the parent drop off and pick up process during Walk the Springs and the first week of school, traffic will move very slowly. Traditionally by the second week, everyone has a better understanding of the process and it will flow much smoother. Please see below for the traffic flow procedures and maps.

Carpool Procedures

Before School:
Cars will enter the campus through the east entrance off Bethany/West Lucas Road (the entrance closest to the stop light at Country Club/1378). Once vehicles are on campus, all traffic moves one way through two lanes that wind around to the courtyard located in the back of the building. Please pull forward to unload 8-10 cars at a time at the courtyard. Students can unload from either of the two carpool lanes. Please drive slowly and pay close attention to our students who might be crossing.

Click here for the arrival map.

After School:
Cars will enter the campus through the east entrance off Bethany/West Lucas Road (the entrance closest to the stop light at Country Club/1378). Once vehicles are on campus, all traffic moves one way through two lanes that wind around to the courtyard located in the back of the building. At the courtyard they split into three lanes. All lanes converge at the student pick up location at the grass area on the west side of the building. Please pull forward to load 10-15 cars at a time along the grass field. Students can walk to their vehicles in all lanes using the cross walks. Once students are in their vehicles, parents can exit the carpool line through an exterior lane. Please drive slowly and pay close attention to our students who might be crossing.
