Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

Our School Social last Friday was a big hit.  It was another example and opportunity for us to see what great kids you send us each and every day.  They were so respectful and appreciative of having the opportunity to get together.  Many of the parent volunteers commented on the kids’ great behavior which really made me proud.

Tomorrow is Fall picture retakes.  If your child was not present for the first day of pictures or not satisfied with how the first take turned out, make sure they are ready for retakes tomorrow!  More information is listed below.

Friday will be our first pep rally of the school year.  We will recognize our Fall sports’ teams (football and volleyball) and enjoy the performances of our Band, Cheerleaders, Color Guard, and Dance team.  The pep rally will take place at the end of the day on Friday.  As a reminder, for our first pep rally, I am asking parents NOT to be in attendance as we get a good grasp on the logistics.  For every pep rally  the remainder of the year, parents will be welcomed to attend.  I can’t wait to see and hear our school spirit!

Willow Springs Proud,

Kevin Parker

Campus Reminders
“Stop The Bleed” Student Training
Welcome to the “Willow Springs “Stop The Bleed” training program. This program is a difference maker and will allow students to possess a critical skill set that can be carried with them throughout their entire lives. Stop The Bleed training allows students to learn how to administer initial care in a life threatening situation to an injured individual.
Although this training is not mandatory for our students, we are required by state law (86RHB496) to offer it to all students in grade levels 7-12. If you choose to sign your child up for this free training, keep in mind they will be exposed to photographs of injured individuals that will contain severe injuries. Students will learn how to tend to laceration, broken bones, puncture wounds, etc. Students will also learn skills such as applying a tourniquet, applying pressure to injuries and bandaging an injured individual.
Our safety and security foundation is built on the “Force Multiply” concept. We believe in empowering our teachers, staff members, students, parents and community members with knowledge that can save lives!
If you would like to register your child for this training, please click on the link below. Each class is limited to 40 spots. The sessions will be led by LISD security personnel. Participating students should report to the cafeteria after dismissal.

Developing Student Ownership in Learning
One of our goals is to work with students to build ownership and responsibility in their own learning. Consider having your student make first contact with his/her teachers by emailing them about assignments and/or tests. For example, if your student has not completed a homework assignment or a test, please encourage your student to do the following:

  • Log into Power School to determine what test/assignment is missing.
  • Go to the Google Classroom to print off and complete the assignment and/or any test preparation materials
  • Email their teacher and ask questions about the assignment or missing work
  • Talk to their teacher about the missing assignment or test
  • Know how and where to turn in the assignment or complete the test

PowerSchool App
The PowerSchool app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You use the same PowerSchool online login. Enter the District code NJBC.
