Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

It was great to have a long weekend to recharge and a fast and furious start to the school year.  We now have volleyball and football season in full swing and had a very successful opening week for both sports.

I hope to see everyone at Open House tonight beginning at 6:00 PM sharp.  I encourage you to come a little early so we can get started on time.  Remember, both grade levels will begin at 6:00 PM.  When you arrive, please enter the school either through the front doors or through the courtyard doors if you park in the back parking lot.  You can pick up a hard copy of your child’s schedule in the rotunda and make your way to the main gym where I will welcome everyone.  At 6:15 PM you will make your way to 1st period and follow your child’s schedule until we dismiss at 8:00 PM.  I know our teachers have a lot of good information they would like to share with you.  It is optional for students to attend.  Keep in mind that we assign Friday Night School for tardies!!!  Just kidding, we want you to experience what it is like to walk the halls at WSMS as well as sit in your child’s classes.  We will ask you to walk in a one way pattern in the main hallway and will have plenty of people to help you find your way around.

Our book fair will be open for you to peruse.  Additionally, I encourage you to join the PTO tonight.  Willow Springs benefits so much from this organization and they benefit from the number of members they have.  The cost is $8.00 for a membership and more information can be found below.

Next week is Homecoming Week in LISD.  We will have Homecoming shirts available tonight for purchase as well.

I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight.

NEW! “Stop The Bleed” Student Training
Welcome to the “Willow Springs “Stop The Bleed” training program.  This program is a difference maker and will allow students to possess a critical skill set that can be carried with them throughout their entire lives.  Stop The Bleed training allows students to learn how to administer initial care in a life threatening situation to an injured individual.
Although this training is not mandatory for our students, we are required by state law (86RHB496) to offer it to all students in grade levels 7-12.  If you choose to sign your child up for this free training, keep in mind they will be exposed to photographs of injured individuals that will contain severe injuries.  Students will learn how to tend to laceration, broken bones, puncture wounds, etc.  Students will also learn skills such as applying a tourniquet, applying pressure to injuries and bandaging an injured individual.
Our safety and security foundation is built on the “Force Multiply” concept.  We believe in empowering our teachers, staff members, students, parents and community members with knowledge that can save lives!
If you would like to register your child for this training, please click on the link below.  Each class is limited to 40 spots.  The sessions will be led by LISD security personnel.  Participating students should report to the cafeteria after dismissal.

NEW! Advocating for Yourself and Others/Bullying Prevention Presentations, September 21 & 22
