WHERE TO NEXT?

Good morning Traveler,

Happy new year!

I hope your holiday season was wonderful! Ours was a blend of amazing and not quite so. With two family members coming down with covid just after Christmas, we were lucky to enjoy our typical Christmas traditions, but that was offset by quarantining, cancelled plans, temperatures above freezing and no fresh snow after the holiday. It was a good reminder that life is a blend of highs and lows. As 2022 was overall better than 2021, here's to 2023 continuing the trend!

The end of December is one of my favorite times of year, not just because of holidays and celebrating, but because it brings about my annual exercise to reflect back on the prior year and look ahead at this year's goals. Rather than making this email a bit too long, I will be sending my recap out in another email that also includes lists of travel trends, the most anticipated hotel openings of 2023 and the destinations where you, our clients, are already planning trips.

It's an incredible list!

Cheers to the very best for you in 2023!

Warmly,

ANSE DU PETIT CUL-DE-SAC NATURAL SWIMMING POOLS

📷 saint-barths.com

Along the coast off the east side of St. Barth, near the Anse du Petit Cul-de-Sac lies a chain of stunning natural swimming pools, hidden from view and only accessible by foot.

Appropriate for adventurous hikers only.

As you swim in the aquamarine pools,

the tranquility will allow you to forget everything else in the world.

This is on a calm day.

Depending upon the conditions waves could be crashing in the pools.

So plan accordingly.

There’s a reason why celebrities and discerning travelers love St. Barth.

The island, a part of France, has the laid back luxury of the Caribbean

blended with the sophistication of France.

Rosé all day at a beach club can be the norm if you wish.

What a great way to start a new year!

While in St. Barth plan a visit to this tropical oasis.

Enjoy a leisurely lunch, after-beach snack or relaxing dinner at Le Tamarin.

Set among tamarind trees in a beautiful tropical garden.

The lunches range from sandwiches to sashimi.

Don't miss the beautiful, enormous profiteroles for dessert.

Le Tamarin blends a collection of French plates with exotic flavors of St. Barthélemy.

This is the first time I've highlighted St Barth.

But it will not be the last.

There are many more places on my list I want to share with you,

so expect at least one to pop up again this winter.

🌟 Our clients, a family with older teens, rang in 2023 at the Conrad Tulum in Mexico.

Why is the Conrad Tulum so special?

  • The resort is brand new, having opened in 2022.
  • The pool areas are beautiful - from the palm tree lined main infinity pool on the beach to the four smaller pools around the property
  • Their food is delicious and includes 10+ restaurants and bars including Mexican, Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine and more casual outdoor dining poolside
  • The family friendly resort includes a kids club and teen zone with crafts, video games and DJ lab
  • The location is idyllically located in a more quiet part of the Riviera Maya but close to cenotes, ecoparks and Tulum center and close enough for a day trip to Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve
  • As a member of their Preferred Partner Program, our clients get complimentary daily breakfast, icy cold margaritas and fish tacos or ceviche at one of the chiringuitos (snack bars)* and an upgrade on arrival if available

Do as much or as little as you like:

  • Book a spa service in one of the sixteen treatment rooms that border the lush mangrove forest in the jungle
  • Get in a workout at the gym or join one of the daily fitness classes
  • Spend time on the crystal-clear Caribbean water using the complimentary paddleboards and kayaks

‼️ Don’t miss… visiting Dos Ojos Cenote, just twenty minutes away. Scuba or snorkel the turquoise waters in one of our favorite cenotes.

I've experienced both sides of the argument in this NYT article - Babies in First Class: Which Side of the Aisle Are You On? and I'm curious your take on it. See the quick poll below.
