WHERE TO NEXT?

Good morning Traveler,

I'm so excited for all of the incredible upcoming travels you (and I) are going on! Before summer even begins you are off to Copenhagen, London, Spain, Costa Rica, Argentina, Peru, Italy, Mexico, Colombia, NYC, Dubai, the Maldives, Turks & Caicos, Florida, the Bahamas, Morocco, Japan, out West, Washington DC, Croatia, Portugal and Ireland.

Spa getaways, golf trips, luxuriating on beaches, hiking in the mountains, island hopping by yacht, cooking classes, tapas tours, rib boat rides, river cruises, market visits, professional soccer games, scuba diving, learning about art and history, skiing, adventuring in the jungle, going on treasure hunts, eating in Michelin star restaurants and exploring ancient ruins. Those are just a handful of the activities you'll be doing with your friends and family.

So much fun!

The photo above is from today's Highlight - a splurge-worthy treetop dining experience in Costa Rica. You'll find the details below. You will also find the details on a new movie coming out. If you like adventure, a love story and our planet, you're going to love it!

SAN LUCAS TREETOP DINING

Those of you who have been subscribers to this newsletter from the beginning know that

I love unique dining experiences.

Particularly when traveling with teenagers/young adults - I love unconventional transportation, accommodation and restaurants.

Costa Rica is known for their Pura Vida lifestyle - healthy, eco.

San Lucas Treetop Dining is in the Monteverde Cloudforest of Costa Rica.

Perched 50 feet high in the treetops you will experience seven courses of

healthy, delicious and contemporary Costa Rican cuisine

while watching a spectacular sunset off in the distance over the Pacific Ocean.

"Our menu is a surprise and is a special selection of tasting courses by our chef, no details will be revealed prior to the experience."

For those with dietary restrictions - no worries.

They can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and pescatarian preferences.

If you'd like they will pair each of your courses with wine or specialty ancestral drinks.

The venue is set up mainly for couples - with four of the five tables accommodating two people. But there is one family table seats up to eight.

Reservations begin at 5pm. Dinner lasts two and a half hours.

We suggest you book a table based on the timing of the sunset

which ranges from about 5:15-6pm.

An early arrival will allow you to enjoy a cocktail as the sun slowly slips away over the horizon.

By the time you are on your dinner and desert courses, you will be in a magical candlelit setting listening to the sounds of the jungle.

With so few tables, reservations are a must!

🌟Our clients will be enjoying warmth and sunshine at Petít St Vincent, the private island hideaway in the southern Grenadines.

Why is Petít St Vincent so special?

  • Exclusivity - one island, one resort.  Petit St. Vincent is the only property on the entire island. There are just 22 one- and two-bedroom cottages scattered over hillsides, cliffs and beachfronts providing the ultimate private and tranquil setting. The epitome of understated luxury.
  • It's retro - there is no internet or tv. Allowing you to unplug, unwind and take in the beauty of the island. Raise the simple yellow flag outside of your private villa and leave a note with your request inside a hollowed-out log. What would you like? Breakfast in bed, an afternoon cocktail, a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach or whatever else you wish. Then your butler arrives by mini Moke (see below) to assist, which is just fun!
  • Enjoy fine dining in the main restaurant, casual toes-in-the-sand dining at the beach restaurant or have a drink at the Goatie’s Bar on the water’s edge.
  • If you have teens who love soccer (or you do), the Petit St. Vincent soccer team trains three+ times a week for the local inter-island tournaments. They practice on the green during the cooler afternoon hours and guests are welcome to join in the fun.

Do as much or as little as you like:

  • Kayak, windsurf or take a boat out to fish for barracuda, mahi mahi and yellowfin tuna.
  • Get underwater with PADI certified instructors and guided trips to some of the region’s best dive sites.
  • Luxuriate with an open air massage while tranquil breezes float over you while gazing out at the light blue sea.
  • Hike to the summit of Marni Hill for breathtaking panoramic views of the archipelago, enjoy a full body workout with the 20-station outdoor calisthenic fitness trail or perfect your serve on the floodlit tennis courts. If you are a golfer, you can head to nearby Canouan Island for a picturesque round.
  • Take a tour with the sommelier in the extensive wine cellar where you’ll find over 6,000 bottles.

‼️ Don’t miss…island hopping through the Grenadines. A short boat ride to other islands where you can hike, relax on beaches, snorkel and sample rum cocktails at local beach bars.

After Jessie's trek on the W trail in Chilean Patagonia, she and Siska crossed the border to explore Argentinian Patagonia. They went to El Chaltén and El Calafate for more hiking. From El Chaltén they trekked up to the Fitzroys and a waterfall. From El Calafate they made it to the Perito Moreno Glacier. While there they were shocked by how loud it was when a piece of the glacier fell off into the water.

A bit about the geography of Patagonia...

Patagonia crosses between the very southern sections of Chile and Argentina. Some travelers only go to one side or the other. But if you have enough time, I suggest both!

How much time do you need?

A solid two weeks is ideal because you not only want enough time to explore and adventure through these lands, but the logistics of getting there take time - usually an overnight flight in each direction. And, unlike Jessie and Siska's trip, you will be staying in the most incredible luxury lodges, with culinary programs of the caliber of Michelin star dining. You won't want to rush that.

You can see below how very far south Patagonia is on the South American continent.

To have the highest likelihood of great weather in Patagonia, our North American winter is the best time to go. Planning well in advance will give you the best opportunity to have your choice of dates, lodges and experiences. If you are coming this far, you don't want to compromise!

I'm already planning my trip to Patagonia for next winter. It is not too early.

For more Patagonian inspiration, check out this new National Geographic movie coming out next month called Wild Life. It is an amazing story and for me an absolute must see. The couple that founded iconic outdoor brands you know, fell in love - with each other and our planet. More details below.

"WILD LIFE follows conservationist Kris Tompkins on an epic, decades-spanning love story as wild as the landscapes she dedicated her life to protecting. After falling in love in mid-life, Kris and the outdoorsman and entrepreneur Doug Tompkins left behind the world of the massively successful outdoor brands they'd helped pioneer -- Patagonia, The North Face, and Esprit -- and turned their attention to a visionary effort to create National Parks throughout Chile and Argentina. WILD LIFE chronicles the highs and lows of their journey to affect the largest private land donation in history."
