El día de los muertos
Students in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 learned about El día de los muertos (the Day of the Dead) by setting up traditional  ofrendas  as a class project. Many people in Mexico set up o frendas  to honor loved ones who have passed away. Even though El día de los muertos celebrates the lives of the loved ones who have passed, students were allowed to honor living Hispanic figures as well so that they could recognize some of the people that were being honored with our ofrendas. Be sure to ask the students in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 about what they have learned regarding
El día de los muertos and  ofrendas.
Induction to Teaching Program
In our Induction to Teaching Program, students get a flavor of what teaching and planning for classroom instruction are all about. They learn several strategies and spend a lot of time reflecting on their learning. Last week in Current Trends and Issues in Education, students used the placemat strategy while they researched both Bloom's Taxonomy and Webb's Depth Of Knowledge levels. The students then presented them to each other, collectively planned a lesson, and then assessed the lesson for the different levels of cognitive rigor involved. Great job, Panthers!
