Love Life Women's Conference
Joyce Meyer will be presenting a conference in Charleston, SC, Friday & Saturday, October 25 & 26, 2019.  Some of the women in the church are thinking about attending, and it would be great if we could assemble a group to attend the conference together.  Cost for the conference is $99.00 to $114.00 per person, depending on seating level.  For further information go to

Thoughts from Pastor David...
Greetings, friends,

It's hard to believe that the season of Advent will begin in just a few weeks.  According to the The United Methodist Book of Worship, the word advent is derived from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming."  The four weeks of Advent are a season that proclaims the comings of the Christ - whose birth we prepare to celebrate once again at Christmas, who comes continually in Word and Spirit, and whose return in final victory we anticipate.
Each of the four Sundays in Advent has a distinctive theme, and these are addressed when we light the candles of the Advent wreath.  The first is Christ's coming in final victory, and represents the Hope we share; the second is that Christ is the Way, as announced by John the Baptist; the third is that Christ is our Joy; and the fourth reminds us that He is the Prince of Peace.  Listen to the readings as each of the candles is lit in the coming weeks, and you will hear these themes.

This is a joyful and special time of year for Christians, but it can also be a very busy and stressful time.  There are so many things going on, and so much to be done.  With all the emphasis being placed on the commercial and social aspects of Christmas, we can easily get distracted from what this blessed time of year is really about - the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Attending and participating in the many special services and activities we will be having here at WUMC will help us keep our focus on the birth of Jesus.  These events will be advertised as they draw closer, so be on the lookout for them.  Also, we will once again offer a booklet of Advent devotions on the first Sunday of Advent, December 2, to help you stay focused on what this blessed season is all about.
Let's make a conscious effort to truly prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to stay focused on Him throughout this busy, hectic and sometimes frustrating time of year.  Remember - He's the reason for the season!

Grace & peace,
Pastor David

Greetings From the WUMM ,
The Wrightsboro United Methodist Men have begun to meet again on the second Sunday of every month in the fellowship hall for breakfast. And, as usual, women are also welcomed. We eat at 7:30am, have a short devotional, and then conduct the business portion. We are finished in time for those who want to attend our early service.

W e resumed our breakfast meetings on Oct. 14, 2018 with 14 in attendance and JOY in our hearts with our new surroundings. Wow, what a beautiful fellowship hall & kitchen we have!  Jim Lee shared his testimony with us and we were all blessed. Thank you Mr. Jim.

Thank you all for your patience over the last few months, as we renovated our fellowship hall and then dealt with the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.  Many suffered damage, but God got us through and is ALWAYS with us.

T he WUMM prepared and served the hot dogs and sides for our recent Fall Festival on Halloween. Thanks for all the help and I know the kids and adults all had a great time!

Moving forward, our next meeting will be November 11.  We will receive nominations and vote for officers, as well as consider projects for the coming year.  Looking forward to another great year of gatherings.

God is So Good and the WUMM really enjoy giving back! Won't you join us soon?!

We always encourage anyone to come and be a part of the WUMM!  It's a great way to give back to the Church and, most of all, to God!

God is GOOD All the Time! Keep Looking Up!

* Also, a reminder to the men of our annual men's dues will be upcoming again in January - see me or Suzanne.*

Pilgrimage is a weekend-long event where youth groups
come to celebrate, worship, and learn about God on a large scale.
We will gather at the Crown Coliseum on Friday, November 9 for four
amazing worship services with a house band full of youth
leading the music, youth shared testimonies,
and a guest speaker sharing their message.
Final plans are being made, so if you know of a youth (6th-12th grades)

Flood buckets are needed locally as well as hygiene kits.  Supplies and cash donations will be greatly appreciated.  Check the UMCOR web site for a list of supplies needed.
Our route for Meals on Wheels continues to grow each month.  We are now furnishing hot meals for 33 people in the Wrightsboro and Castle Hayne communities. A committee is being formed to help meet these needs.  It is a simple ministry, but it impacts the lives of people who can't fend for themselves.  If you're interested in helping, consider coming on board.  It's only once a month and is a great way to be in mission without a lot of effort.  The blessing will be yours.

The Fall season is here.  It is a great time of year for craft festivals.  The Crafty Friday ministry thinks any time of year is great for crafts.  We recently delivered 34 "Knitted Knockers" to Hope Abounds.  These are  breast prostheses to be given to survivors who had mastectomies.  We also made pretty ornaments for the angel tree and are putting the finishing touches on chrismons.  Up next are cute ornaments for the Christmas tree to be in the fellowship hall.  Of course we can't forget the Wrightsboro Elementary staff.  We have a surprise treat we will be making for them.

We make a variety of crafts from paper, felt, cloth, beads, or yarn.  We help where we feel comfortable.  We learn from each other.  Whether you are advanced, a beginner, or totally new to crafting, we have a place just for you.  Let us remember God doesn't call the qualified.  He qualifies the called.  What a blessing it is to fellowship and share God's love with others.

We meet on Friday mornings in the Fellowship Hall from 9:30 to 11:30 am.

Contact Gail Nunn, or on 910-742-4412.

Do you find yourself wanting to praise the Lord by giving back to Him a portion of the many blessings He has so generously showered upon you?  Have you been sitting in the pew when the collection plate is being passed and you realize you have little or no cash and you don't carry a checkbook?  Have you been out of town or sick on Sunday and not sure how to handle your weekly tithe in those instances?  We have all been there.

The church office will provide you a self-addressed envelope upon request, if you wish to mail a check.  But why not utilize the online giving option?  Online giving is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  It can be accessed by going to the church website,, and choosing the red Give button in the upper right corner, or by clicking the link, "click here to give online", in the weekly announcement email. Simply pick the amount of your tithe or offering and where you wish the funds to be applied, check out and you are done.  You can even elect to set it up as a recurring payment to ensure the funds are sent each week without any extra work on your part.

What an easy way to ensure the missions of WUMC are able to continue and grow.  I am proud that we offer multiple options for our congregation, and I encourage you to at least check it out to see if it would be a good fit for you.
