COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Richmond Fed Opens Funding Portal for CRA-Eligible Proposals
|
The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond opens its Investment Connection application process today to give community and economic development organizations in parts of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia an opportunity to connect with funders whose support can help fulfill their missions in their communities.
Through Investment Connection, which premiered in the Fifth District in late 2019, organizations (particularly those in low- to moderate-income, distressed and underserved communities) with CRA-eligible projects can submit applications online that are reviewed by bankers, CDFIs, foundations and other potential funders in their region. A select number of proposals will be chosen for closer consideration, in a process that allows the presenting organizations to "pitch" their ideas to funders.
The application portal is open through October 23. Leaders of interested organizations can visit the Investment Connection website for specific instructions on how to apply.

Friends of Traditional Banking Announces Endorsements |
The inverse of a PAC, Friends of Traditional Banking chooses two or three key Congressional races each cycle and encourages all bankers around the country to donate what they can. This month they announced support of Senators Cory Gardner (CO), Thom Tillis (NC), and Joni Ernst (IA). Each of these allies is in super-tight races, and bankers kicking in to help can put them over the top!
"These are amazing candidates, who really could use our help," said FOTB Chairwoman Joye Hunt, who is also CFO of PBK Bank in Kentucky. "We have been able to steer hundreds of thousands of dollars to key candidates in years past, by tellers kicking in $5, bank execs kicking in a few hundred, and anything in between."
