The Governor's tax reform bill, HB 2027/SB 600 will increase the consumer sales tax in West Virginia to the highest rate in the nation at 7.9%. It will also impose that rate on the sale of professional services including legal, accounting, advertising, and electronic data processing making West Virginia only the 4th state in the nation to tax such services.

The Governors proposal will have a profoundly negative impact on the economy in West Virginia and on the banking industry specifically. This legislation will drive consumers out of West Virginia across state lines and significantly increase the cost of doing business for banks who employ professional services daily.

Tell your representatives in the West Virginia HOUSE and SENATE to preserve existing tax exemptions for professional services and to go back to the drawing board on tax reform.

Marketing in an Upside Down World
March 25 & 26, 2021
8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | 1-hour Lunch Discussion, Day One

In 2020 it certainly felt like our world was turned upside down. Branches closed. Lending became risky. Few had money to invest. The economy was on life support and bankers became first responders. Traditional marketing strategies were put on hold and emergency communications were developed to save clients.

As bank marketers start to make sense of this chaotic world, it is apparent that there are many opportunities to provide greater assistance in local markets. During this virtual event, participants will gain new insights on how to leverage these opportunities by refining their marketing message and implementing new communication tactics.

WVBankers is proud to be a Partner Sponsor for this exciting event!
