Dear Parents,

I am writing to ask for your immediate assistance in ensuring the safety and security of our school. As you know, we recently conducted a school safety survey, and based on the results, we have identified an urgent need for additional security measures, including hiring an armed security guard.

To achieve our goal of providing a secure and safe learning environment for our students, we need your help. If you made a pledge to donate towards this cause last week, we are asking that you fulfill that pledge as soon as possible. We need to receive donations by April 19th in order to hire an armed guard immediately.

In addition to hiring an armed guard, we also plan to implement additional access control measures, such as employing unarmed guard to monitor pedestrian gates during school hours and through after school daycare.

If we receive enough funding and donations, we believe we can also add a marked vehicle on campus for extra security measures.

In addition, we are pleased to inform you that we have engaged the services of Pacific Low Voltage, a security company that specializes in creating comprehensive security plans for schools. They will be working closely with us to develop and implement a plan that addresses all potential security vulnerabilities and gaps.

Some of the additional security measures that we are considering include:

Locking down the campus in case of an emergency and immediately communicating with the police. Creating a security safe zone for students and staff in the event of an active shooter situation barricading classroom doors with locks and other enhancements to prevent unauthorized entry. Enhancing doors and windows to make them more resistant to forced entry. Monitoring security cameras to detect potential threats and respond to them quickly. Creating physical barriers to prevent vehicular access to the campus. Installing lock-blocks on entrance doors to prevent them from being forced open.

What's New In STEM?

Students have had an egg-cellent week of STEM! While the eggs are incubating, students learned about the life cycle of chickens and about the purpose of each component of an egg. Hatch day will be the week after Easter break!! If your family would like to keep any of our chicks, please email Mrs. Fiske (jfiske@westvalleychristianschool.com).

Pictures in the link below include 2nd grade inspecting the parts of an egg, 3rd and 5th grade having time programming our Dash robots, Kindergarten finishing their shoebox mansion, and 1st grade making insects. 

The Kindness Klub had a busy week spreading kindness around the campus! They wrote cards and letters to the hot lunch personnel, campus aides, enrichment teachers, middle school teachers, and office staff to let them know how much their hard work is appreciated. They also assisted with the preschool trike-a-thon, stuffed eggs for the kindergarten class, and hid eggs for the 1st grade Easter egg hunt. What a wonderful way to head into Easter break.

New Spring After School Classes will begin the week of April 24th. Registration for 4-week sessions are now open. We are offering 4-week sessions of Culinary Arts, Broadcasting & Photography, and Art. Don't miss out on these fun opportunities! Registration closes April 23rd.
