April 2026 Newsletter

From the Director's Desk

Greetings! April is a month to celebrate and honor resilience, leadership, and community!

We begin with the  Month of the Military Child, sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, which recognizes the unique contributions and sacrifices of military families and their children. The Military Child Coalition and Military OneSource both offer helpful toolkits for parents and guardians. Thank you to all military kids for being strong, brave, and awesome!

This month also marks Arab American Heritage Month, when we celebrate the achievements and contributions of trailblazers like Dr. Faye Glenn Abdellah, a pioneering nurse leader who transformed patient care, education, and research through a holistic, patient-centered approach. She achieved historic firsts in her career, authored over 150 publications, and helped establish national standards in nursing. Her work advanced public health, expanded opportunities for women, and left a lasting legacy in the profession.

April is additionally Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year’s National Sexual Violence Resource center’s theme, "25 Years Stronger: Looking Back. Moving Forward" honors the survivors and advocates who sparked change, celebrates the progress made, and renews our commitment to prevention, healing, and meaningful action.

For support, please contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at (800) 656-4673, the Veterans Crisis Line at 988, extension #1, or the EOVS Statewide Advocacy for Veterans Empowerment (SAVE) program at SAVE@mass.gov or 617-210-5743.

This April, let’s celebrate the courage, achievements, and contributions of military families, trailblazers, and survivors—together, we honor the past, embrace the present, and inspire a brighter future!

In Solidarity,

Jessica A. Frost
