A Message from Our New Director

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your service as well as being part of the Women Veterans Network. What I love about the WVN is that it brings women veterans together from across the state who have had all had different military experiences and perspectives. With programming that is both in-person and online as well as visits to communities across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we hope to connect with you and other women veterans. We want to ensure that you have access to benefits, are aware of services in your community, and to connect with other women veterans.

From 1993 to 1996, I served in the U.S. Navy and left to return to my home in Houston, Texas. I really had no understanding of what benefits and services available to me and really struggled to acclimate back into civilian life. It also took me more than 20 years to even acknowledge my veteran identity. This shift came about when I accepted a position supporting veteran and military-affiliated students in a Massachusetts community college and starting my healing journey from my military experiences.

Now, I have the incredible opportunity to meet and support women veterans across the Commonwealth who bring a kaleidoscope of wisdom and contributions. I am excited to share that this year will include the 16th annual Women Veterans Network Conference in May, the Deborah Sampson Award in June, a hybrid wellbeing series and other events throughout the year. Please visit our Massachusetts Women Veterans Network website for more details as well as information on federal and state resources. You can also email [email protected] with any questions or feedback you would like to provide. Wishing you a wonderful 2024!

Warm Regards,

Jessica A. Frost, D.M.
