WVP Gratitude and Reflections

Hi Watershed Stewards,

In the spirit of the season, we want to take this time to thank everyone who makes WVP possible, starting with you!

I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference your efforts make, not only to your own community but to communities you may have never met! The work you do here in Northeast Ohio to protect our water has a domino effect that ripples across the state, the country, and beyond. We all benefit from having a positive relationship with water!

From restoration to monitoring to learning and so much more, we're so incredibly grateful to be able to work with you toward our shared goal of creating a world where we all have a better relationship with our local waterways. We sincerely appreciate all of the hard work you've committed to improving the health of your watersheds and your community.

We would also like to thank our funders and partners for enabling us to do the work we do.

A huge shoutout to NEORSD (Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District) for its incredible devotion to giving our communities clean water, educating the public about watershed issues, and the wonderful ongoing support they've given to WVP throughout the life of the program.

To West Creek Conservancy, thank you so much for supporting WVP and for continually fulfilling your mission to reclaim, restore, and protect natural areas and waterways in Ohio.

Thank you to the Watershed Stewardship Center for giving our program, and our Watershed Stewards, a "home-base" in order to learn about watershed science, work directly with experts in the field to collect and analyze data, and so much more.

Also, we'd like to thank our local watershed partners for their assistance and friendship. If you'd like to learn more about our program partners, click here!

Thank you again for all that you do. We wish you all a wonderful holiday season full of love and gratitude.

Best,

Taelor Benoit (he/they)

Restoration and WVP Stewards at Work

Watershed Volunteer Vicki Straus reached out to the WVP team on November 10th to ask what locations a new WVP volunteer might enjoy tracking during the predicted rain events on November 11th. Stream Restoration Ecologist Elizabeth Hiser has quite the list of sites throughout the park that she would like to observe during significant rain events and shared her wish list with Vicki who decided to check out two sites in South Chagrin along the Chagrin River on November 11th during the rain.

Vicki donned her rain jacket, rain boots, and headed to the field with her phone in hand to record and share observations around lunch time once a significant amount of rain had fell...
