World Water Day 2024

Water for Peace

The Unitied Nations has observed World Water Day on March 22nd since 1993. It highlights the importance of fresh water and the 2.2 billion people who live without it. This year's campaign "Water for Peace", hopes to raise awareness of the challenges and conflict that emerge when people have unequal access to water. Over 3 billion people share water that crosses international borders however less than 16% of those countries have cooperation agreements for their shared water. Climate change will only magnify the potential for friction over the lack of access to clean, safe drinking water and the food insecurity that comes with the lack of water to grow crops.

The Cleveland Metroparks will be celebrating World Water Day on Saturday March 23rd, at the Watershed Stewardship Center from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. WVP Volunteers will be on hand to educate and celebrate our greatest resource on a watershed scale.

Warm regards,

Sara Corrigan

WVP Coordinator

Pictured here in a still from drone footage is quite possibly a baby Great White Shark (aka a pup). If true,

then this documentation would mark a milestone in Great White Shark research as nobody has ever

filmed one in the wild. The article directly above covers why the researchers behind the

video think it's a baby as well as many interesting facts about these sharks.
