Hello Watershed Volunteers,
My name is Hannah Comune and I have joined the Watershed Volunteer Program (WVP) as a seasonal crew member. I will be assisting with all things WVP as well as watershed partner events for the rest of 2021. I'm so excited to begin collaborating with volunteers to learn how to best manage, protect, and enjoy our NEO watersheds.
This spring, I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Environment and Natural Resources. Through my experiences on campus, I developed a passion for evaluating watershed health and educating others about water quality. I particularly enjoy water chemistry analysis and being able to discuss the analysis results with others. Outside of school and work, I like to listen to music, hike and read.
In addition to learning about the science behind our watersheds, I believe it is equally important to keep our watersheds as healthy as possible. What is something you do to promote better health for your local watershed? I look forward to hearing your responses and getting to know all of you at our upcoming events!
Best,
Hannah Comune

Take the Watershed Stewardship Challenge: Visual Trends
|
|
We challenge you to look at water quality monitoring data and see if you notice any trends. A new online platform has been developed with our partners at Cleveland Water Alliance and the Chesapeake Commons for visualizing water quality parameters such as phosphate and pH around Lake Erie. On this platform, found at the bottom of this WVP webpage, you will be able to see data from various watershed groups around the Lake Erie Basin.
- What changes do you notice when looking at the graph of one parameter? What could impact these changes?
- What do you think contributes to differences in parameter levels across the watershed?
- What do you think are the benefits of having an online platform like this? What are the disadvantages?

Cleveland Metroparks recently revised COVID-19 guidance requiring facial coverings for unvaccinated employees and volunteers at all times unless someone has been granted an individual exemption identified in the Ohio Department of Health’s previously enacted Facial Coverings Order (e.g., disability, etc.).
If you are vaccinated and wish to share that with us, please bring your vaccine card (a photo on your phone is fine) to the next WVP event you attend to show us privately. Otherwise, let's mask up in this next wave of COVID-19 cases.
Thank you for all you do for the betterment of the water, land, and people!
