March WVP Happenings

Greetings Watershed Stewards,

We are so grateful to all of the stewards who made February so Fabulous! Thanks to your efforts we helped monitor salt in our streams, repair a headcut using bioengineering, and tackle invasive porcelain berry at a historic ball field. We also enjoyed learning with you about macroinvertebrates, the Friends of Lower Lake efforts, and our 2022 monitoring achievements. You can see the recordings from our Monday MeetUp and the Monitoring overview by viewing our past events page, clicking on the links and using the password provided.

We have a lot of great events lined up for March that you can see below and on our website, but we wanted to make you aware of staff travel/limited availability this month. Stream Restoration Ecologist Elizabeth will be out of country having underwater adventures along the coast of Bonaire from March 8th-March 20th and will be at Stream Function Field training March 26th-March 31st. Community Science Assistant Bre Turner works a limited and varied 2-3 day work week. We are still working hard to get a new Watershed Volunteer Program Coordinator and Assistant hired and onboarded. Please forgive any delays in our response this month due to this staff shortage.

Shout out to our volunteers who stepped up to the plate to lead events in March to help fill this program gap. Thanks to Chris Wolf and Dan Leamon for helping to lead our tree care day at Lakefront Reservation March 17th and thank you to Mark Brody, Dave LeBrun and Margaret Rhynard for leading our West Creek neighborhood outreach event on March 29th.

We look forward to seeing you at an event soon! See event details here and below and sign up in volgistics!

Gratefully,

The WVP Team
