Hi, Watershed Friends.
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but my time as a seasonal with WVP is coming to an end. I have enjoyed getting muddy in the field, sharing watershed stories, and getting to know each one of you. Your enthusiasm and passion for improving the heath of your local watershed is an inspiration. I'm so excited to see all of your future endeavors as watershed leaders in your community.
I'm actively looking for a new position related to natural resource management and environmental education (hopefully here in NEO). Please feel free to contact me about anything at hcomune162@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you.
I'm so grateful for our time together and I hope to reconnect with you sometime soon!
Be well,
Hannah Comune

Watershed Stories: Groundwater and the Great Lakes
|
|
Groundwater is one of the most important resources of freshwater in the Great Lakes region. A volume of 1000 m3 of freshwater is stored in the Great Lakes Basin. While the Great Lakes provide most of the public water supply, 8.2 million people in the Great Lakes region rely on groundwater for their drinking water (Grannemann et al., 2000).

The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) has developed a flood reporting tool for community science uses. This tool is an online data reporting system that will allow users to input observations for floods in their areas. For those of you who are interested in learning more about how this tool works, please view the WVP Past Events page here and look for the recording from the Feb 2 Report a Flood in Your Community Workshop. A brief tutorial of the tool can be found at timestamp 24:00.
Please feel free to reach out to NEORSD Watershed Team Lead, Meiring Borcherds at borcherdsm@neorsd.org with any questions regarding the tool.
