The COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) provides economic relief to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. In response to COVID-19, small business owners, including agricultural businesses, and nonprofit organizations in all U.S. states, Washington D.C., and territories can apply for the EIDL. Boots to Business (B2B) is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The course provides an overview of entrepreneurship and applicable business ownership fundamentals. Active Duty Service members (including National Guard and Reserve), Veterans of all eras, and spouses are eligible to participate.

Lake County, Ohio Wireless Emergency Notification System
|
|
In January 2021, Lake County upgraded the VESTA Alert System to the Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS).
This new system enhances the capability of reaching citizens with important emergency information through:
AUTOMATIED VOICE CALLS, TEXT MESSAGES AND EMAILS.
All residents of Lake County with published landline number, and those that signed up via the VESTA self-registration portal, were added to the new system.

Breastfeeding in the Workplace
|
August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month (BAM). The Lake County Breastfeeding Coalition would like to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and Ohio’s breastfeeding laws in the workplace and in public during the month of August. Employers who invest in employee lactation accommodations see a 3:1 return on investment (ROI) because of:
· Lower healthcare costs
· Lower absenteeism for both mothers and fathers
· Lower turnover rates
· Improved employee morale
