2021 PAUL BROWN MONDAY NIGHT JAZZ SERIES
The Hartford Jazz Society is proud to announce the live return of the summer Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series (PBMNJ) at Bushnell Park. This summer marks the 54th season that the Hartford Jazz Society has produced the popular Monday Night Series and is the longest running free jazz concert series in America. The series consists of six consecutive Monday evenings of live jazz in downtown Hartford’s Bushnell Park, featuring locally and internationally recognized musicians, all in a comfortable, relaxed outdoor setting. The 2021 Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series will run from July 12, 2021– August 16, 2021. All concerts are free and will be held at the Thomas D. Harris Pavilion at Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT. In case of rain, the concerts will be virtual, streamed from Library Studio, Middletown via the Hartford Jazz Society Facebook Page. These concerts provide access to the arts for audiences of all ages in central Hartford, help sustain jazz as a living art form, and invigorates the cultural community by promoting quality, diversity, and economic growth. T Blues Society
Founded in 1993, the Connecticut Blues Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Blues music in our state. CTBS is an affiliated member of The Blues Foundation, a worldwide network of 185 affiliates with an international membership in 12 countries.
The CTBS Blues Jam is back!
New time, new location, but the same musical fun! From now until September, the CTBS will be sponsoring a First Thursday Blues Jam at The Chicken Shack at The Farm at Carter Hill in Marlborough CT. The CTBS All-Stars (River City Slim, Phil Caron and Joey Primo) are back as the house band with a different 'guitar star' joining the band each month. The Chicken Shack is a rustic barn setting, with tables indoors and huge side doors that open to a field for outdoor seating, so there are plenty of options for social distancing. Musicians bring your instruments - amps, drums, keyboards and PA are provided. Come out to play with some of the best Blues musicians in CT. The Chicken Shack has great, reasonably priced food, so come hungry. There's also a full bar! Music starts at 6:00 PM, and there's NO COVER! THE FARM AT CARTER HILL is located at 86 East Hampton Road (Route 66) in Marlborough.

We are very excited to announce that our archive has been completely upgraded so that it is usable on most if not all devices. The archive allows you to listen to any WWUH program aired in the last two weeks on-demand using the "Program Archive" link on our home page.

If you have an idea for a radio program and are available to volunteer late at night, please let us know.
We may have some midnight and/or 3am slots available later this year. Email station manager John Ramsey to find out more about this unique and exciting opportunity for the right person.
Qualified candidates will have access to the full WWUH programmer orientation program so no experience is necessary. He/she will also need to attend the monthly WWUH staff meetings (held on Tuesday or Sunday evenings) and do behind the scenes volunteer work from time to time. This is a volunteer position.
After completing this process, we will review the candidate's assets and accomplishments and they will be considered for any open slots in our schedule.

The WWUH Scholarship Fund |
|
In 2003 WWUH alums Steve Berian, Charles Horwitz and Clark Smidt helped create the WWUH Scholarship Fund to provide an annual grant to a UH student who is either on the station's volunteer Executive Committee or who is in a similar leadership position at the station. The grant amount each year will be one half of the revenue of the preceding year.

The Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit Community Orchestra. They present four concerts each season in the Greater Hartford area, performing works from all periods in a wide range of musical styles. The Musical Club of Hartford
The Musical Club of Hartford is a non-profit organization founded in 1891. Membership is open to performers or to those who simply enjoy classical music, providing a network for musicians from the Greater Hartford area. Club events take place normally on selected Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m, Fall through Spring. The usual location is the sanctuary at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT (between Ridgewood and Mountain Avenues). Information on time and location is given at the bottom of each event description.

With the leadership of Cantor Joseph Ness, it educates and entertains the community through music. Boomers Paradise
From The Turtle Man
The dog days of August will be upon us so it's a good time to relax and chill out to music. This month on Boomer's Paradise (Mondays 1-4 PM) we'll feature tracks from albums released in August 1971. We'll dabble in songs about dreams. Other musical themes include song titles about fire, ice, water, earth and sky. Love will also be featured and some rock tunes featuring the sitar. If time allows we'll showcase the music of Steve Winwood, The Steve Miller Band and musical groups with notable vocal harmonies. Tune in and tune out.

If you are up with the baby, working the line, driving a truck, pulling an all nighter, on your way to the gym or you just like staying up all night like we do, tune in to the All Night Show with Gus T every Friday from 3 to 6 AM on WWUH 91.3 or wwuh.org. If for some reason you choose to keep normal hours, you can also hear us on the archives.
We take a root and branch approach to Americana and you are likely to hear folk, blues, old country and honky-tonk, no depression, jazz, roots rock, singer/songwriter, lo-fi, hi fi, bluegrass and every other cool thing we can think of.
