Goodbye To
Meaningful Mondays

After welcoming 60 plus poets to our stage, including women, young women and men, Meaningful Mondays has offered its final performance. The owners of Arnold's will close for business on Mondays. Our creation circle has considered other venues, but Arnold's is a difficult space to match.
I want thank the originators of Meaningful Mondays, Nancy Jones and WWf(a)C Founder, Mary Pierce Brosmer, Ronda Breedan of Arnold's, as well as Diane Debevec for her support in this program.
I want to thank all those who stepped out on the stage and put forth their voice. The magical moments are too many to mention. I also have the deepest gratitude for our guests who routinely arrived through sleet, snow, and storms to take in the words of our poets. And I would be remiss in not mentioning the inimitable Sandy Lingo who routinely hosted our performers and guests in her home, fed them with empty calories (she did serve fruit and cheese), and sent them home with leftovers.
It was truly my honor to serve as the mistress of ceremonies for these many months. I look forward to the creation of more events where our writers can open themselves up to the larger community.

Staged Reading of a play  by Diane Germaine
SEPTEMBER 16, 8:00pm, at WWf(a)C

With Diane Germaine as Sima and
Suz Fleming-Smith as Tracy

"NOT YET" occurs over a 4-year period in the life of Sima and her visiting middle-aged daughter, Tracy. The play is from both their points of views and is funny, acerbic, and poignant and is telling commentary about the loss of independence and the struggle to remain vital and visible in the process of aging.
- Karen Kotzen, review December 2012 -  "All the heartbreaking elements of dealing with an aging parent- the nagging, the stubbornness, the frustrations, the worry, and ultimately the caring - were portrayed beautifully by the two women."
 - Bev Bowers, Women's Way of OH/KY - "Watching the relationship between these two women...took me back to my life's experience of letting go. The play's name, Not Yet, just grabs you as the play ends."

Performance proceeds for the benefit of Women Writing for (a) Change

Spotlight on Lisa Rocklin

"I want to transform from a drought-stricken, drooping sunflower to a radiant sunflower girl, who can no urish f ellow flowers and be nourished in equal measure." This is what I wrote on my application to the 2015 Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy when I was asked to "capture, in one sentence, who you are and want to be more fully in the world." The writer in me longed for time to recommit to one of the passions of my life; the leader in me wanted to seek new ways of holding sacred space for others to do the same. And so, a new journey began. Read more...

Congratulations CFLA 2017!

The 2017 Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy, a program of Women Writing for (a) Change, took place this summer at the Transfiguration Spirituality Center in Glendale, Ohio, led by Lisa Hess and assisted by Diane Debevec.  Thirteen women participated in two 8-day intensive retreats in July and August. The next steps in their program will be  creating and delivering a practicum program using WWf(a)C circle practices; and writing a paper with a topic of their choice. Graduation will take place in early 2018.  Congratulations, CFLA 2017:  You are on your way!
