We want to take this time to Welcome back James Magill to WYSA as our new Assistant Technical Director!
Originally from Northern Ireland, United Kingdom (hence the funny accent). Coach James graduated from Staffordshire University in PE, Youth Sports Coaching and Applied Sports Psychology. Having played soccer almost all his life it's safe to say that Coach James is a little soccer crazy. Playing for his schools, New City Saints FC and Hanslope FC. and winning the Reserve Champions Trophy. Coach James began coaching for fun with local soccer teams in England and gaining valuable experience falling in love with the game even more! He had the opportunity to coach in Massachusetts where he met everyone at Wilmington youth soccer and now returning to Wilmington he can not wait to see all of you out on the field for training and games!
Coach James will be working closely with Coach John Bavota our Technical Director.
Coach John started with WYSA last year and has been a great asset to Wilmington Youth Soccer already!
Technical Director John Bavota is a local native to the town of Wilmington, MA, growing up as a player for the Wilmington Youth Soccer Association. Coach John graduated from New England College in 2003 where he was a four-year member and senior captain of the NEC Soccer Team. Post graduation, John played with the New Hampshire State Team in the U.S. Regional Tournament and received a bid to the U.S. National Select Team. Since 2008, John honed his coaching skills as Director of Soccer and Sports Performance at the FIELDHOUSE in Sudbury, MA. In 2014, John spent his time in Sao Miguel, Portugal as both a player and coach with Mira Mar SC. Currently, he plays with Div. 1 side Southie FC competing in the US Amateur and Open Cup tournaments.
