The People Walking in Darkness...
There is an undeniable connection between the Christmas season and light. My neighbor has so many holiday lights on his house that I'm sure extra water has to be released over the turbines at the Bonneville Dam to provide the necessary electricity - I don't even try to keep up. The part of the season I want to passionately display is the
Advent - light connection.
My prayer is that, through the celebration of Advent in WaPac churches, we will fulfill the promise of Isaiah 9:2. Let the light of Jesus brighten our communities.
... Have Seen a Great Light

Revive, Refresh, Restore - Reflections
It was a source of great encouragement to see 1,300 WaPac Nazarenes attend one of our 6 RRR services as we moved up I-5 from Vancouver to Marysville. Each service had its own unique quality, but the same warm spirit was present as Dr. Jim Diehl reminded us that our God is bigger than the problems we face. We are grateful to God for lives touched and spiritual victories won. Thank you to host churches and worship leaders - well done. Click here for service recordings.

Pastor Colin and
Corrie Duffy began their ministry at Lakewood
New Hope Community on Sunday, November 20th with an installation service by DS Jerry Kester and a challenging message by Pastor Colin. The Duffys and their three children, Cara, Ciara and Claton, come to WaPac from Dewsbury England. If you would like to send them a note to welcoming them to western Washington, click here.

Pastor Steve and
Erin Minnis have been appointed by the District Advisory Board to lead
The Bridge Church in Stevenson. The Minnis family has been an essential part of ministry development in the Columbia River Gorge. They have effectively assisted both the Stevenson and Carson churches. In October, Steve began his first assignment as the lead pastor at
The Bridge Church. To send a note of encouragement to Steve, Erin and their children,

Wapac Pastor's Day - January 19th
Central to who we are as Wesleyans and pastors in The Church of the Nazarene is our optimistic message of holiness. Few in our church have written and taught more on this subject than author and NNU professor Dr. Diane Leclerc. Diane will be focusing on how to best understand and communicate our holiness message at this year's Pastor's Day - January 19th at Mountain View Church in Olympia. The training will be from 10:00am - 3:00pm and cost $10.00 including lunch. To register for the day

Youth Missions Day - Huge Success!
201 Students and leader
s
from 16 churches spent Saturday, Nov 12th in Tacoma serving the community. Thanks to NYI President Megan Wighaman and a great team of youth leaders for giving our youth the opportunity to experience the joy of loving and serving. Wapac youth volunteered at food banks, shelters, World Vision, missions, and homes of elderly and disabled members of the community. These students are learning from their leaders the character qualities that will make for a lifetime of generousity and blessing.

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Christmas Project
Since the war in Syria started five years ago, about 5 million children have been forced to flee their homes because of violence or persecution. Almost 1 million are now living as refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. Yet, while they may be safe from war, their opportunities for the future are still extremely limited. Poverty, language barriers, and even fear are keeping refugee children from going to school. And without an education, the likelihood that a child will continue on a path of poverty is almost certain.
This year, the
NCM Christmas Project will provide scholarships and support so that displaced children can attend a Nazarene school. Your Christmas Project gift will provide safety and stability for children caught in the conflict. Go to
http://www.ncm.org/ for church resources.

New Zealand Earthquake
A powerful earthquake struck New Zealand on November 14th. Field leadership reports that Nazarene churches and congregations nearest the epicenter are fine.
Pray that God will grant wisdom and grace, as Nazarenes reach out to family, friends, neighbors... and strangers, offering Christlike compassion. Asia-Pacific Region's news release.

Missionary Opportunities
Three good reasons for scheduling a missionary service in your church: They bring the world to your local church; your church sees the results of its efforts to reach the world; and scheduling a missionary for a deputation service sharpens your global perspective. To schedule a missionary, contact Shelley Wagner. We have some wonderful missionaries coming to visit WaPac!

Exploring Nazarene History and Polity class will be offered simultaneously at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 31 at Liberty Bible and on Metro South zone, in Seattle. Interested students should email either Sharon Kester or Margaret Scott for further details.

I want to express deep appreciation
to all of the pastors and churches who supported Revive - Refresh - Restore. While I understand the times and distance didn't work for everyone, it was so encouraging to see participation from the vast majority of our churches and leaders. I believe that God is at work using a new spirit of connection and cooperation to accomplish so much more for Jesus than we can do in isolation. My prayer is that one of the lasting impacts of these services will be closer ties and stronger bonds between WaPac Nazarenes. Let it be true.
Blessings,
Jerry
