Waco's Economy is Rapidly Recovering
The Waco economy is seeing signs of a healthy and rapid recovery according to the Greater Waco Economic Index, which is only slightly down 0.7 points in August 2020 at 131.3, compared to 132.0 in August 2019.
Waco Leads Texas Cities in Job Creation in the Manufacturing Sector
The manufacturing sector growth for the Greater Waco community has not slowed down. From June to July 2020, Waco added 900 jobs in the manufacturing sector, the largest growth in the state. There is more in the pipeline for manufacturing, see our announcements below!
The ZINKPOWER project is underway in Waco
Steel is coming out of the ground and the community is looking forward to the addition of ZINKPOWER's galvanizing operation. Once complete, this project will be a $32 million investment creating 100 new jobs for the region. The 161,000 square foot building will house the only galvanizing operation between DFW and San Antonio, and ZINKPOWER's largest galvanizing dip bed.

Of Note: The largest Caterpillar equipment dealer in the United States has acquired the former Caterpillar Work Tools building, a 200,000 +/- square foot industrial campus in the Texas Central Park. The company will invest over $32 million and create 128 new jobs, with services including heavy equipment maintenance, engine rebuilds, equipment assembly and other products and services that will compliment other Holt operations in the State.

Of Note: SpaceX is enhancing its presence in the Greater Waco area, announcing a $10 million expansion of water and electric infrastructure improvements to its existing facility in McGregor. More about it here.

Of Note: A high-end custom commercial trailer manufacturer, based in Alberta, Canada, has chosen Waco for its first US manufacturing operation. The company will invest $11.27 million into its new 58,000 square foot facility in the Gateway Business Park, with plans to expand to 70,000 square feet. The company will add 70 new highly skilled jobs in the market.

Of Note: Tractor Supply Co. will invest $9 million and retain 400 employees as part of capital improvements to its Waco distribution facility. Included in the investment is a new trucking entrance made available in partnership through a grant with the Waco-McLennan County Economic Development Corporation.

Of Note: Texas Meter & Device has announced plans for the construction of its new corporate headquarters in Waco. This project will involve a $3.5 million capital investment with the construction of a 50,000-70,000 square foot headquarters and assembly center. TMD will retain 60 jobs at its new facility.

Of Note: Ryonet Corporation, a leading screen printing supply distributor, will consolidate its US distribution centers in Kansas and Georgia to a single location in Waco, TX. The company's 35,000 square foot facility will employ 10 employees initially with plans for additional growth.

Of Note: Laminate Technologies, a custom laminate panel and fabrication manufacturer, will relocate its production facility within Texas to Waco. The company will invest $4 million into a 50,000 square foot facility and plans to create 40 jobs by 2021.
