What's Your Word of the Year?

This week Merriam-Webster released the 2024 word of the year “authentic,” meaning not false or imitation. The selection had much to do with the strong use of AI, artificial intelligence. What’s real; and what’s not? The dictionary also defines authentic as an undisputed origin; or genuine.
The concept of choosing the word of the year got me thinking about what word(s) might be most prevalent for the chamber over the next year. In spending time earlier this week with my colleagues with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives and the President of the Minnesota Chamber, the word “balance” was emphasized as it relates to the upcoming legislative session. Back home in our chamber office, we’ve been spending a lot of time working on programming for 2024 and reviewing survey results from our members. In analyzing the feedback and planning ahead, 3 words stand out to incorporate into our strategic plan for 2024.

The Waconia Chamber of Commerce would like to implement annual Business Excellence Awards to honor businesses by presenting three awards to individuals who have demonstrated business leadership, community leadership and a dedication to education.
Who can nominate? Nominations can come from a member company representative, an individual, another business, or self-nominations are accepted. Nominations will require a completed application by Friday, December 8, 2023 to be considered
The business excellence awards will be presented at the Waconia Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
