Detour Ahead!

by Kellie Sites, Waconia Chamber President
Let’s hear it for roadway improvements! Okay, let’s face it, we all love smooth, well striped, easy access roadways, but there’s a bit of pain in getting there. Living in Minnesota means it comes all at once, so it’s time to put on your patience hat and give yourself extra time to get places.

There’s a big detour ahead for Waconia, starting on June 11th… bringing new shoppers right down Main Street! Instead of trying to tell you myself, please click here for the City of Waconia’s Wavelength, June newsletter for an excellent map and description of what work will be done where. You’ll also find June’s Music in the Park schedule, info on the 2040 Comp Plan and more!

Along with cars, it’s event season too – 4,000 people heading to Waconia for the Lola’s Half Marathon this Saturday, then the more folks for Marching Band Festival on June 16th. It’s a great time to sweep your front step and make sure you are putting your best face forward.

Be patient… watch for pedestrians and people on bikes… take a breath when you feel overwhelmed… there’s much to be thankful for – like summer! Here we go!
Progress during a challenging legislative session

by Doug Loon, Minnesota Chamber President
The 2018 Legislature is history with a mix of good news and unfinished business. Governor Dayton’s veto of the tax and supplemental budget bills assures that conforming to federal tax reform will once again be center stage when lawmakers convene in January. Failure to pass a bill early in 2019 will complicate tax returns for individuals and businesses alike. Click here to read more...
