StartUp Lloydminster, which services the Wainwright region, are very excited to bring Digital Main Street's - ShopHERE program powered by Google to our region.
ShopHERE originated in Toronto as a response to the COVID 19 crisis as it highlighted the importance of bricks and mortar stores having an online storefront to sell their goods and services.
The purpose of the program is to support small independent businesses and artists that do not have the time, skills and resources to build an online store. If this sounds like you head to startuplloyd.com/shophere to join the waitlist. Additional details will be released as they become available.
LOCAL PROCUREMENT OPPORTUNITIES
In order to assist local business in gaining information on business opportunities with local municipalities, Wainwright Garrison etc., the Wainwright Economic Development Office will periodically send out business opportunities featured on   merx.com  and  buyandsell.gc.ca  that pertain particularly to Wainwright and area.

These are systems used by the Government for procurement of goods and services over $25,000.

INNOVATION RELIEF AND RECOVERY PROGRAM
Alberta Innovates extended its Innovation Relief and Recovery Program (IRR) with $350,000, in an effort to help more small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program initially launched in fall 2020 with $400,000 in federal funding through Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD), part of a total $1.3 million contribution from WD to Alberta Innovates.

This new funding, provided entirely by Alberta Innovates, aims to support an additional 38 SMBs in recovery from pandemic caused disruptions. The IRR program offers tech businesses access to various technical and business supports that are not covered through other relief programs. Project activities may include product testing and refinement, manufacturing capacity improvement, customer discovery work as well as professional services such as human resources, legal, and financial required to support relief and recovery. Support for each project ranges from $5,000 up to $10,000.

TOWN OFFERING 25% REBATE PROMOTION ON LOTS
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn, Town Council has approved a policy to provide a 25% rebate on all Town-owned serviced lots. This includes residential, commercial and industrial lots within the Town of Wainwright.

Council and Administration hopes this promotion will encourage construction and help local contractors and trades with employment, thereby helping to stimulate the local economy and increase the tax base.

The promotion is for a limited time only, starting on August 5th, 2020 and ending on June 1st, 2021. There are conditions on the promotion such as the lot(s) must be paid in full and the building must be fully constructed prior to receiving the 25% rebate. For full details, contact Carley Herbert or Scott Flett, Director of Planning & Development at the Town Office.
