Patience and Trust

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; …Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come...”

~Habakkuk 2.3

Everything is a little askew right now. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. One of the only things that can remain stable is our relationship with God.

We are at a point of change, but we are not sure what that means. We plant the seeds and wait to see if they will germinate. Our college and high school seniors have graduated, but have not yet bloomed. What will the future hold for them?

So, we exercise our patience. We can draw pictures in our own minds of how it should be, and worry about this or that, or wait patiently until the picture becomes clear.

How do we develop patience? The only way I know is through practice. Know that what you have for today is all you must worry about. Know that God’s eternal patience with us should give us encouragement to be patient with our own circumstances.

I confess my tendency towards impatience. I am practicing letting go of my idea that I can forge ahead and make my own way. I know that it is not practical and even dangerous. So, I keep practicing.

Jesus will walk with you and help recall all the blessings that today holds! Wait and see how the Lord helps you through, one day at a time.
