Ok I must admit something, I
know you may not know this about me and I've kept it pretty quiet
except for my friends and family, but when I think about it, you
guys are my friends and family and you should know more about me
too. So I'm telling you, my friends, that I am severely weather
dependent. I know, I know, some of you may be shocked right now,
but I am telling the truth. The climate and the sun and the
temperature have a hold of my soul and if the weather is not
pleasant then I am sorry to say that things are not right in my
life. Ok maybe I'm taking this a little too far but hey I love
good weather and dammit the older I get the more I come to hate
winter and cold weather. I plan on moving somewhere nicer in the
near future. Maybe I'll just commute to Columbus...in my jet!
Ayyy!
But on a positive note I must
say that so far the fall hasn't been too bad for us here in
Columbus, OH. It's been pretty cold but no snow yet and it seems
as if Indian summer has been going on all fall season. That paired
with the oncoming holiday season have made it a little better for
me to cope. Is there anybody who feels like I feel? I was just
talking to the owner of the Columbus Post and he kept reminding me
that he would only be in town for a short time because it was
getting cold and he had to get back to his other home in Miami. I
agreed with him but secretly I wanted to choke him out and take his
identity and take myself on down to Miami and enjoy some tropical
drinks with my shirt off. And I understand where this man is
coming from though. He's a little older; he's made a good living
for himself, so why shouldn't he enjoy the fruits of his labor in a
better climate? I guess I'm just that hungry that I want to get to
that point in my life before I get in my 50's. I definitely want
to be enjoying life in my golden years.
For now I'll just enjoy friends and family and the holidays.
There is one thing that gets me through the cold weather and that
is the holidays. Just thinking about seeing people that I haven't
seen in awhile, kicking my nephews ass (you know that kids always
think they are bigger and stronger than you when they get in their
teens so I love to take 'em down a few notches every once in a
while), and eating some good food.
As a matter of fact, I did just call you all my friends and
family, right? So, family and friends please don't forget about
your boy this Thanksgiving. I have a little wish list for
Thanksgiving and I'm hoping someone's got me covered this year.
First, I LOVE deviled eggs, love 'em! I don't think people around
me love me eating them but who cares! I've been checking out
special recipes for deviled eggs, not that I'm going to make them,
just so I can see what delicious creations people make with deviled
eggs. So if you happen to make some please put a few aside for ya
boy and hit me up. I'll drive at least 20 to 25 miles to come pick
them up. Also on my wish list is turducken, yes turducken! If you
don't know what that is, it's a special dish made famous down south
where they stuff a turkey with a duck and stuff the duck with a
chicken. I call it the Bird Mnage of Deliciousness and to this
day I haven't got my hands on one. Look it up sometime and if you
just so happen to cook one let me know. I just may surprise you
and your family on Thanksgiving (hell, I'll even bring some deviled
eggs that I get from someone else who read this note).
But seriously, enjoy your Thanksgiving this year, no matter what
you eat, and how good or bad it is for you this year. Try to be
around those who love you and enjoy time with them. Tell funny
stories, make amends of estranged relationships, enjoy a night out
on the town (including ICON this Friday The Grown Life will be
hosting national tastemaker Fonzworth Bentley
from VH1's 'From G's To Gents'. It's going to be great
times for the grown and sexy). And of course, enjoy this week's
Thanksgiving edition of The FlyPaper Online Magazine. We've got
some Thanksgiving shout outs and some ways to feel better during
these cold, dark, days.

Waka
Flocka Caught Up In A Gay Porno Scandal
Jordan Monroe, a male porn star (known as Memphitz), claims that
rap rookie Waka Flocka Flame contracted with him to shoot a gay
porn video with he and two other men! He also claims that the
dread-shaking rapper later defaulted on the deal. In his anger, he
released a YouTube video this week that airs out his grievances,
stating that Waka has reneged on the $420,000 deal made with Adult
Connection Agency. In the video, Memphitz shows a series of blurry
email shots from his phone, and claims that documents will be
released.
In case you don't have the time, patience or lack of mental
capacity to sit through the 12-minute video, I'll summarize it for
you:
-Memphitz sent an offer to Waka's people to do an "alternative
lifestyle" flick starring three other male models
-Waka's people reviewed the offer and responded with a
counter-offer that was accepted on both sides
-The video and print work contracted were only to be released if
Waka's career did not pan out as anticipated
While this allegation surely comes off as total crap, or a
major publicity stunt, who says it's a lie? Gossip blogs and rap
fans alike regularly question the sexualities of some of hip hops
biggest stars (Diddy, Drake, Kanye anyone?) And, it's no secret
that many actors in gay porn are actually straight and thirsty for
the big money that comes along with gay porn. So, maybe this isn't
all one big hoax.
Either way... you heard it at FlyPaper, and you better Get
Stuck for more updates on the Waka Porn Scandal!

FP Give
You 10 Ways Too...
Here at FlyPaper, we are all about mental health, and there
is no other season proven to bring people down like the cruel
winter months that lay ahead. It's an actual condition: Seasonal
Affective Disorder (or SAD); and, it affects a majority of people
who face the changing conditions that winter places on the body.
Whether it's that depression that hits you where it once was
non-existent, the excess weight that creeps up on your belly and
hips, or the insomnia that takes over making you hit the snooze
button instead of get up for work -- winter blues can make even the
most chipper person sing "the blues." But, thanks to Nicole Nichols
writing for SparkPeople, and a few tips and commentary from yours
truly, you now have a strategy to fight winter sadness and thrive
through these winter months.
SparkPeople & Nicole Nichols recommend:
-Exercising
-Eating a Healthy Diet
-Getting Some Sun
-Acting on your Resolutions
-Avoiding Binge Drinking
-Treating Yourself
-Relaxing!
-Embracing the Season
-Getting Social Support
-Catching some Zzzz's'
Here's my take on all of the above. Feel free to read Nicole's
article [ HERE]
1. Exercise
Exercise is a great stress reliever, a great way to fight off
those Thanksgiving and Christmas pounds, and an awesome way to stay
fit for the Spring! Nicole says: "You'll have more energy
throughout the day, and your metabolism with stay elevated too.
Exercise also helps your mind by releasing those 'feel good
chemicals' that improve your mood."
2. Eat a Healthy Diet
I wrote an article in May titled "What's In the Food?" where I
exposed the horrible things that food producers put in our foods;
read it [ HERE]! But the terrible offenders:
hydrogenated oils, high fructose syrup, aspartame, MSG, artificial
colors/flavors, white sugar, salt/sodium and olestra are serious
killers. They drain your energy, kill your mood, make you sick,
depress you, and skew your concentration. Nicole recommends that
you "Try to incorporate more complex carbohydrates (whole wheat
breads, brown rice, veggies, fruit) and get your daily 8 cups of
water. These healthy foods provide your body (and mind) with
nutrients, and stabilize your blood sugar and your energy
levels."
3. Get Some Sun
"Most people know that sunlight provides us with Vitamin D.
But did you know that it
also improves your mood? Winter days are shorter and darker
than other months; and,
because of the cold weather, a lot of people spend less
and less time outdoors. Lack of
sunlight can cause many people to become
depressed-without knowing why! Similar
to exercise, sunlight exposure releases
neurotransmitters in the brain that affect mood.
Try to spend a little more time outdoors. Keep your
shades up during the day to let
more light in. Sit near windows in restaurants and
during class. Try changing the light
bulbs in your house to "full spectrum" bulbs. These
mimic natural light and actually
have the same affects on your mind as the real
thing." ~ Nicole Nichols

Is It Time
For The Vest To Go?
With the Michigan game fast approaching -- I, like many
other Buckeye fans, am looking forward to a little more competition
than what we have seen in recent years; and, although their defense
is severely lacking, Denard Robinson is guaranteed to breathe new
life into this rivalry. So, at the closing of this season,
surrounded with bowl game anticipation, I find myself in a
discussion I seem to be having more and more often...What's the
deal with Tressel?
Many of you will understand the question right away, but for
those that don't, please allow a Buckeye fanatic to explain. We
have somewhat of a love/hate thing for Coach Tressel in the Buckeye
Nation; there are those that have an unmoved love and admiration
for the man, his coaching, and the level that he keeps our team
on. There are those that love that he wins, but hate that he does
so conservatively. Then there are those that respect him as the
coach of our team, but hate the fact that he is still here, winning
enough to maintain his place as head coach, but losing enough to
encourage all the doubters.
Jim Tressel has an overall Ohio State record of
104-22, six Big Ten Conference championships, an
8-1 record against that team up north...and then there are the bowl
games: 5-4 overall and 4-3 in BCS games. It is the last two stats
that will make even the biggest Buckeye fan sigh, glare, and lash
back with "at least we're going". Being honest with you, I'm one
of the fans that will continue to 'trust in the vest'. He may not
put on a show, but the man coaches wins. There are some fans that
will try to convince you that if Tressel does not start winning the
big games, his job will be in danger.
To those fans I say: "nope, not likely." He still holds a
winning record, and was head coach of our 14-0 National
Championship team (it doesn't matter whose recruits they were). We
still sign highly-ranked recruits, the team is viewed in a publicly
positive light, and players are drafted and/or signed to NFL teams
annually. Tressel also places a large amount of importance on
academics and other off-field activities. All-in-all, it's a
win/win or better said: if it ain't broke don't fix it.
HOW I SEE IT...
I would agree that Tressel has to throw in some game changers to
consistently win the big games; but, I also would point out, we put
away Oregon in the Rose Bowl and Miami was supposed to be this
year's big game (that we won) -- it's not our fault they haven't
shown up this season. Personally, I see Coach Tressel ending his
career here, stepping down only when he is ready. The numbers
don't lie: he's a winner, he coaches winners, and the Buckeyes will
continue to win as a team with him as their leader.

Looking For
The Sales? Let FlyPaper Help!
Ah, the holiday season is upon us! Snow, Christmas
trees, lights, children laughing, Santa Clause, cookies, food, and
much much more that makes this the best time of the year is now
here. But, let's not forget the best (and possibly worst) part of
the holiday season: the shoppers! The holiday shopping season
traditionally kicks off the day after Thanksgiving: the infamous
Black Friday. Deal-seekers wake up at crazy hours to stand in all
kinds of lines, run crazy around stores, and try to take advantage
of all of the deals that retailers offer on what is the busiest
shopping day of the year. So, do you plan to head out on Black
Friday this year? If so, check out some of the deals that are
waiting for you!
For starters, we begin with the world's largest retailer: WalMart.
This year WalMart has announced they will be opening their doors at
the strike of Midnight on Friday, November 26th. Their official
Black Friday ad was released, and shows over 400 items at extremely
low prices. Some of the top items include: big-ticket items such as
computers, televisions, gaming systems, and DVD's. WalMart plans on
starting most of their electronic sales after 5am. So, if you plan
to be there at Midnight, don't expect to walk away with many
electronics. One of the best deals they are offering this year is
the Canon EOS Rebel XS 18-55 Deluxe DSLR camera bundle for just
$470; and, that special is joined in the ad by a 15.6 inch
eMachines laptop with 2GB memory for only $198!!
Another popular place for electronics is Best Buy. Their
Black Friday ad was leaked recently. They showcase a total of 350
items that are priced to fly out the doors -- in an attempt to get
shoppers to start their shopping early. Their camera brands on sale
are ones such as Nikon, Canon, and Samsung. As far as TV's are
concerned, Best Buy is offering a Toshiba 55 inch LCD HDTV for
$969.99!! Their laptops and computers will also be priced to go,
including iMac and Macbook Pro's for $1,199.99.
