One thing that I routinely hear from our alumni is that Wake Forest helped them prepare for a fulfilling, exciting, and meaningful career. In this email, I'd like to introduce you to 5 of our biomedical programs that have a research focus. These programs feed into a variety of career possibilities and all offer hands-on research on our academic medical center-based campus to ensure you have an unrivaled research experience. Whichever your preference, our goal is simple, offer a biomedical graduate degree that sets you up for a long and productive career. Featured Program #1


Neuroscience (MS and PhD)

Fall '25 PhD Application Deadline: 12/6/24

Fall '25 MS Application Deadline: 6/1/25

The primary objective of the program is to train and mentor students focused on investigating molecular and cellular structures, local neural circuits and brain areas, and behavior to enhance our understanding of the functional organization of the nervous system. Multiple training grants offer students a wide variety of areas in which to specialize.

Translational Biotechnology (MS)

Fall '25 Application Deadline: 3/1/25

Our newest graduate program! Preparing the next generation of STEM and business leaders needed to move new regenerative medicine therapies, including organoids, from the laboratory to the clinic. Two pathways are available, a research pathway - full-time study with a thesis, and a business pathway - part-time study with a capstone project, designed to meet the needs of tomorrow's biotechnology professional.

Biomedical Engineering (MS and PhD)

Fall '25 Application Deadline: 12/13/24

The Virginia Tech – Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES) is a unique multidisciplinary program that bridges the biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, and real-world applications to enhance the quality of life. Our world-class students and faculty members are innovating across a continuum of systems — from natural to engineered to medical.

Biomedical Research (MS)

Fall '25 Application Deadline: 6/1/25

A flexible program designed to improve students’ academic foundation in the biomedical sciences in preparation for doctoral study or a biotechnology industry career. Two pathways are available, a thesis pathway for those wishing to continue into a PhD program, and an industry research internship pathway ideal for those wishing to transition straight into an industry position.

Molecular & Cellular Bioscience (PhD Track)

Fall '25 Application Deadline: 12/6/24

The Molecular and Cellular Bioscience track grants you the freedom and flexibility to explore before committing to a specific research program. Research mentors are focused on basic and translational fields of molecular and cellular biology. After a core curriculum in the 1st year, you select 1 of the 5 PhD programs (Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Microbiology & Immunology, Molecular Genetics & Genomics, or Molecular Medicine & Translational Science) in which to complete your degree.

In our Virtual Information Sessions, attendees will receive an overview of WFU's biomedical graduate programs, hear from current biomedical student ambassadors, and have their application and program questions answered. A great opportunity to figure out which biomedical program is best for you.


Spring Open House


March 28 @ 12:00PM EDT



At our Open House event you will be able to get a look at campus! Go on an Innovation Quarter campus tour led by a Graduate Student Ambassador, meet with program leadership including Dr. Erik Brady, Director, and speak with current students. This event goes along with the Biomedical Graduate Programs annual Research Day event so you will be to see all of the research posters and speak to students about their work. This event will open with a light lunch and offer breakout sessions. More details will be sent to those who sign up.
