A note from the School Director
Dear Wake Prep Families,
The first day of school is right around the corner! We can't wait to have everyone on campus and get this school year started!
Over the last several months we've provided you with a lot of information to help prepare for the new school year. As we put the finishing touches on the school, we will have even more information to share! Please continue checking your email, Wake Prep's approved Facebook pages (K-6 & 7-12), and our website for important school updates.
As a reminder, Wake Prep is not an allergy-free or peanut-free school. All students will eat lunch in the cafeteria and there may be exposure to several allergens. Staff will be trained and prepared to handle emergency situations. If your child may require the use of an Epi-Pen or other medication in an emergency, please contact our School Nurse, Ms. Piskula ([email protected]), to coordinate a Health Action Plan.
Uniforms
Thank you for your patience through all the hiccups as we work to make sure every student has a WPA polo shirt for the first day of school. Uniform shirts will be available for purchase during Meet the Teacher Night.
At this time, we will not be holding another "logo event" before school begins. Orders that have been submitted will be available for pickup during Meet the Teacher Night.
Friday shirts can be ordered through our Uniform Store or through our Athletics Spirit Store (proceeds from Athletics Spirit Store sales go directly to WPA Athletics).
Busing
The window to request transportation has closed and all bus routes are currently on a waiting list. Families who submitted a transportation request have received communication as to whether they have been assigned a seat on the bus, have been placed on the waiting list, or a route is not available in their area.
Kindergarten - What to Expect
Please thoroughly review the following Kindergarten information to prepare for a successful school year:
What to Expect as a WPA Kindergartener
K-6 Class Placements
Between August 12-16, your child's teacher will be calling you to introduce themselves and invite you to Meet the Teacher Night. Please note that requests for specific teachers, switching teachers, or to be placed in classes with specific students/friends cannot be accommodated.
JH/HS Schedules
Schedules and instructions on how to access schedules will be shared with JH/HS students between August 15-17, in time for Meet the Teacher Night. Once students receive their schedule, they should print a copy and bring it with them to Meet the Teacher Night. Schedules will not be available at the event.
JH/HS Orientation (Updated)
The JH/HS Orientation slides have been updated with information regarding Requesting a Parking Pass, Driver's Education, Lockers (we will not have lockers), Hot Lunch, and PE Dress Code.
It is extremely important that students understand what is expected of them as Wake Prep students. For some, the expectations will be higher than what they have ever experienced in a school setting.
Please review the orientation slides thoroughly with your child so there are no surprises on the first day of school or as they are held accountable for being in dress code, behaving respectfully, participating in class, submitting quality assignments on time, etc.

Health Action Plans
Students who require medical support during the school day MUST have a Wake Prep Health Action Plan on file. Completed Health Action Plans and any accompanying medications should be submitted to the School Nurse, Ms. Piskula, during Meet the Teacher Night.
If you are unable to attend Meet the Teacher Night, you must schedule an appointment with Ms. Piskula ([email protected]) to drop off your child's Health Action Plan and medications on an alternate date.
Hot Lunch & Lunch Accounts
Cost: $3.25/meal
Menus will be posted to Wake Prep's website once available.
Information regarding setting up a lunch account and loading money to your child's account is forthcoming.
DRIVELINE PROCEDURES
Information regarding driveline procedures will be shared shortly in a follow-up email.
ALL STUDENTS, grades K-12 (unless assigned to a bus route), MUST be dropped off/picked up using the driveline. Parents/Guardians must stay in their vehicle. Staff will be available to assist students in getting in/out of their car and to/from their classrooms.
Thank you for your partnership and support. We look forward to seeing you at Meet the Teacher Night!
Sincerely,
Cristina Schubert, M.Ed.
