Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, cleansing as His Bride, getting ready for His soon return as our Bridegroom-----

As a signal to ALL other nations, Britain holds a key PRECEDENT: how GOD in World War II answered prayers with repentance to save a nation from evil. He is needed again now, in ALL nations. In the past 10 years, 3,500 churches have closed down in England because of the abandonment of Chrisitianity. Here is a report from our brother in Christ, pastor John of Strengthen the Faithful:

GOD’S DRAMATIC ANSWERS TO THE SEVEN NATIONAL DAYS OF PRAYER WHICH WERE HELD DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR.

Information to encourage and give hope. Please share.

Many of you will be aware that when the General Synod of The Church of England met in the summer of 2025, high on the agenda was a discussion about the need for church ministers to prepare congregations for conflict and war. It made front page headlines in the Church Times newspaper dated 4th July.

As a result of those discussions and with the threat of war spreading from Ukraine into Western Europe becoming ever more real, Strengthen the Faithful has compiled the following non-denominational information which congregations will find helpful in this task. It is unfair to expect church ministers of whatever denomination to carry out this preparation alone, so the information has been compiled and is being distributed, in such away that ordinary members of a congregation can use it themselves personally, to share with family, friends, work colleagues and other appropriate people.

To prepare people for war, above all else they need hope and proof that this hope is real and not imaginary. The following information explains that whatever lies ahead, there is hope and it provides evidence and proof that this hope is real.

Even should Western Europe fall and Britain is threatened with invasion, we can do exactly what the Wartime generation did during the Second World War when all seemed lost. During the Second World War Britain was on the verge of being invaded. After the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk, the German Army stood on the other side of the Channel with 200 divisions flushed with victory. Most of our weapons had been abandoned in France, so all Britain had was less than one division of properly armed troops. America hadn’t entered the war, Europe had fallen and so we were totally alone and defenceless. There was no human help and in human terms invasion was a certainty.

The following is a factual account about what the Wartime generation did when faced with this existential crisis and importantly what happened as a result of their endeavours.

This account details God’s dramatic answer to the seven official National Days of Prayer which Britain held at crisis points during the war. As we shall see in a moment He answered each one dramatically and He answered them clearly.

Seven National Days of Prayer where called for by the King at critical times throughout the War. After each one, the natural chain of events which had been occurring suddenly changed and deliverance took place. Looking back, the Bishop of Chelmsford Dr H.A. Wilson wrote, “If ever a great nation was on the point of supreme and final disaster, and yet was saved and reinstated it was ourselves…it does not require an exceptionally religious mind to detect in all this the Hand of God.” The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr William Temple further declared “We believe that He [God] Who led our fathers in ways so strange and has preserved our land in such a marvellous manner has a purpose for us…”  (Part of that purpose was the eventual liberation of Europe). On every National Day of Prayer churches were filled with people pleading for Divine intervention because no human help was available. On 31st October 1942 Winston Churchill stated “I have a feeling sometimes that some Guiding Hand has interfered. I have a feeling that we have a Guardian because we have a great Cause, and we shall have that Guardian so long as we serve that Cause faithfully. And what a Cause it is!”

The first National Day of Prayer took place in May 1940. The entire British Army was trapped at Dunkirk and so George 6th called for a National Day of Prayer to be held on 26th May. In a national broadcast he urged the people of Britain to turn back to God in a spirit of humble repentance and plead for Divine help.  Millions of people across the British Isles flocked into churches praying for deliverance and the photograph below [above] shows the extraordinary scene outside Westminster Abbey as people queued for prayer.

Two events immediately followed. Firstly, a storm arose over the Dunkirk region grounding the Luftwaffe which had been killing thousands on the beaches. And then secondly, a great calm descended on the Channel, the like of which hadn’t been seen for a generation. It was only because of this Channel calm coming at this precise moment and lasting the length of the evacuation, that tiny boats were able to sail across and rescue 335,000 soldiers. The Channel became like a mill pond so that even privately owned motor-cruisers from British rivers and estuaries; in fact almost anything that could float were able to ply back and forth in a desperate bid to rescue as many as possible. Douglas Bader the fighter ace described the scene; “During these days of the evacuation the sea looked like any coastal road in England on a bank holiday. It was solid with shipping. One felt that one could walk across without getting one’s feet wet. There were naval escort vessels, sailing dinghies, rowing boats, paddle-steamers, indeed every floating device known in this country. They were all taking soldiers from Dunkirk back home.” Because of this sudden Channel calm coming immediately after the National Day of Prayer, people called what happened “The Miracle of Dunkirk”

Hitler was furious. He had publically boasted that he was about to annihilate the entire British Army.

The second and third National Days of Prayer were held during the Battle of Britain.  Hitler now sought to destroy the RAF and its airfields in order to achieve air superiority prior to invasion. As events became critical, the King called for a Day of Prayer at the height of the battle on 11th August 1940. During the following week Spitfires and Hurricanes managed to destroy 180 Nazi bombers. This brought temporary relief, however on 30th August 800 enemy aircraft filled the skies intending to destroy RAF airfields. In a speech on 4th September Hitler boasted that he would “erase” our cities and by 6th September the situation was again dire and defeat in the air looked inevitable. On 7th September the Germans sent over the largest force they could muster in an enormous effort to devastate London. More than one thousand bombers and fighters came in at intervals of 20 minutes. One RAF fighter pilot reported that there were so many enemy planes layered up to 30,000 feet it was “just like looking up the escalator at Piccadilly Circus.”  The King however, had already called for another National Day of Prayer on 8th September. That week 185 enemy aircraft were shot down and Goering was forced to give up his assault. On 15th September Churchill was able to declare victory in the air. Hitler was once again furious. Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding who was Commander-in-Chief Fighter Command stated “I pay homage to those gallant boys who gave their all that our nation might live…but I say with absolute conviction that I can trace the intervention of God, not only in the battle itself but in the events which led up to it. If it had not been for this intervention victory would have been rendered impossible.” In another interview on 15th September 1943 he stated “At the end of the Battle one had the feeling that there had been some special Divine intervention to alter some sequence of events which would otherwise have occurred.”

The fourth National Day of Prayer was called for by the King on 23rd March 1941 during another period of heavy bombing in London. He was completely unaware that this was another  date planned by Hitler for the invasion. German ships were blown off course and Hitler then changed his entire plans, switching instead to invading Russia.

The fifth National Day of Prayer took place on 3rd September 1942 when the British Eight Army had been driven back to the borders of Egypt by Rommel’s Afrika Korps. General Montgomery was appointed as the Eighth Army Commander and led British forces to victory at El Alamein. This battle was the turning point of the war.

The sixth National Day of Prayer was held on 3rd September 1943, the fourth anniversary of the declaration of war on Germany. Italy surrendered to the Allies within 24 hours and Mussolini was killed.

The Seventh Day of Prayer was in spring 1944 for all military personnel in preparation for the liberation of Europe. The King then followed this by an additional call on D-Day itself not only for nationwide prayer, but also for a worldwide prayer vigil so that evil could be defeated.  His call to the nation was inspirational and to this day it remains one of the most important addresses ever delivered to the British people. (Upon request Strengthen the Faithful can email the text of this speech as well as a recording. Contact details are at the end of this account).

So how did Almighty God answer the prayers of the nation regarding the D-Day landings? As explained earlier, to enable the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk, the English Channel became like a mill pond, something not seen for a generation. This time the weather at the end of May and early June became the windiest and stormiest for 20 years. The weather over Normandy became like mid-winter. As result of these appalling conditions the German weather service informed commanders that there could be no Allied invasion at this time. They were so certain of this that Field Marshal Rommel left his command post and returned to Germany to celebrate his wife’s birthday and many other officers left their troops in order to rest and recuperate. Suddenly, a break in this shocking weather, which had delayed the D-Day offensive by 24 hours, occurred on 6th June. It was this break, coming at that precise moment, right in the midst of this stormy weather which allowed the invasion to go ahead with far fewer lives lost than were expected. It was extraordinary. It was Divine intervention.  As he reflected on events 8 years later, General Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces responsible for D Day said;

“This day eight years ago, I made the most agonising decision of my life. I had to decide to postpone by at least 24 hours the most formidable array of fighting ships and of fighting men that was ever launched across the sea against a hostile shore. The consequences of that decision at that moment could not have been foreseen by anyone. If there were nothing else in my life to prove the existence of an Almighty and merciful God, the events of the next 24 hours did it…The greatest break in a terrible outlay of weather occurred the next day and allowed that great invasion to proceed, with losses far below those we had anticipated…”

Almighty God responded to all seven heartfelt National Days of Prayer with deliverance and ultimately with victory over the forces of evil. The nation had approached Him in prayerful humility and repentance and the Lord, Who is infinitely Holy and Loving responded in a dramatic way.

God’s answer to these National Prayer Days is absolute proof that no matter what crisis lies ahead for our Country, no matter how severe, or in what form, even should we be threatened with invasion or the erasing of our cities, if we as a people genuinely turn back to Him in repentance, He will most certainly intervene. The Living God Who so dramatically answered the prayers of the Wartime generation will help us too. He has the power to do so and He is willing to do so, the question rather, is whether or not we as a people are willing to genuinely turn back to Him, the God of the Bible. Choosing between slavery under a ruthless dictatorship, with all that slavery implies, or freedom following the True and Living God will be the decision which has to be made. What God did before, He can obviously do again. There is hope and deliverance but it is dependent on people turning back to Him in repentance and humility as did the previous Wartime generation.

We will also send you a copy of The Wartime Miracles Leaflet which we posted to 25,000 churches across Britain and Ireland before the pandemic.

Strengthen the Faithful has also produced a video which accompanies this talk.  It can be viewed on YouTube and is entitled A Dramatic Answer to Prayer. The Miracle of Dunkirk. https://youtu.be/a8vyfp0aVHk It shows that there is hope by looking at the miracle God produced at the time of the Dunkirk Crisis. This hope in God is a message everyone needs to hear.

Please share the information in this talk as a sign and witness to what God can do when approached in the right spirit. There is hope in God, and what people need is hope and proof that this hope is real.  God’s dramatic response to these National Days of Prayer is absolute proof that this hope is indeed very real.

Pastor John adds: The Church in Wales (not England) appointed a new Archbishop last summer who is a lesbian living with her so-called "wife". Apostasy therefore is rife. On the war front; Britain is now profoundly vulnerable to attack. Britain has only 6 days, yes 6 days of food reserves in the event of an emergency, and Britain is connected to the world wide web by only 60 undersea cables which have now been mapped by Russian ships. Cut these cables and the entire system goes down throughout the Nation. On top of that, Germany has just passed a law reintroducing conscription/national service because it is so fearful of the future and two weeks earlier France introduced a similar law albeit in a rather watered down version.

But the church, clergy, pastors and congregations sleep on. Only the faithful remnant of intercessors over here are listening. I sometimes feel like the radio operator on the Titanic; I am sending out the distress call...but nobody out there is listening. And I also need to add that, the US president is in the process of abandoning NATO and this makes war in the long run, inevitable.

May the dear Lord hear the prayers of His faithful remnant,

God bless,

John
