Bedroom with Hand Hewn beams
Wake Up Your Bedroom Design
The bedroom is your private sanctuary, the one place in your home where you can fully rest and rejuvenate.  Bedrooms are also a big deciding factor for prospective buyers. Whether you're looking to sell or stay, your bedroom design should be a pleasure to wake up to.

These five bedroom remodels are very different, but share one common feature -- the transformative nature of wood.
Bedroom wall with Wellington Reclaimed Barn Board Shiplap panels
In the Groove with Shiplap

This beautifully rustic accent wall was created with Shiplap panels, a style known for its grooved, slightly overlapping boards.

The panels' material captures the look of wood salvaged from a century-old barn, without the expensive drawbacks that come with reclaimed.

A Nook with Character

A professional interior designer decided to make herself the client and remodel her own home, starting with her teenage daughter's bedroom. She updated the space with cool new furniture, light fixtures and wide plank walls.

What really gave the room extra character was adding this fantastic reading nook, framed with beams to separate it from the sleeping area.

Bold and Balanced

The homeowner chose beams in a Dark Walnut color for his bedroom's vaulted ceiling, installing them against a brilliant white, planked ceiling for super-bold contrast.

The beams also go nicely with the dark wood furniture, giving the entire room a distinct, yet balanced look.

Magazine Worthy

With its Victorian furniture and wide-plank, hardwood floors, this bedroom in Sonoma, CA, was quietly elegant.

But the homeowner realized the room needed something to offset its muted color scheme of grays and cream.

Beams were the perfect solution to really shape the room -- worthy of a feature in an interior design magazine.

A Faux Fairy Tale

Sometimes you have to go big or go home.

This bedroom remodel is a great example of that with its richly whimsical design -- like something out of a fairy tale.

What makes this bedroom especially exciting to us is all the faux materials used -- beams and planks on the ceiling, plus faux stone from our sister site, FauxPanels.com on the walls.

Testimonial of the Month

We just finished installing faux wood beams in our master bedroom, and we can't stop looking at them: they are astoundingly gorgeous and make the room "pop"! We were impressed how fast our order came, and were shocked when we opened the first box. They really are beautiful, and look like stained, hewn beams. They don't look like something fake at all, they actually look real, and not just real, but beautiful! The texture, the color, all the inconsistencies of actual wood, knots, grain, light and dark colors.
