The Authentication Forum to empower India, Industry, and Indians in the Fight against Fakes
Authentication Solutions Providers’ Association (ASPA) and Messe Frankfurt India are organizing the third edition of The Authentication Forum in Delhi. The two-day flagship leadership summit is scheduled for 7 th  and 8 th  November 2019 at the Lalit Hotel, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

Adulteration has led to many adverse health hazards over decades and this has increased manifold in the alcohol segment. There is a constant effort to end this nuisance but how do we deal with this societal menace? With evolving packaging trends, juices and dairy products have been rapidly adapting to modern lifestyle demands, although not much is taking place in the alcoholic beverage segment. EU customs seized €740 million worth of fake goods in 2018
EU customs intercepted nearly €740 million worth of fake goods last year with the increase blamed on the "large amount" of online sales from abroad, the Commission said. In total, customs officers seized 69,354 million consignments in 2018 — nearly 12,000 more than in the previous year. The street value of the 27 million articles that were found to have infringed on intellectual property rights was estimated at nearly €740 million. "The number of interceptions of fake goods being imported into the EU increased in 2018 due to the large amount of small parcels in express and postal traffic," the Commission said  in a statement . Ind. (WLS) -- Several boxes of fake vaping pods and starter kits were seized Monday from a store in Indiana after a two-month investigation. Indiana State Excise Police officers executed a search warrant last Friday at Zip Food Store in Cedar Lake after a customer complaint. "Recently, vaping-related illnesses are on the rise nationwide. The hazards associated with counterfeit vaping products are a serious public health and safety matter," said Indiana State Excise Police Superintendent Matt Strittmatter.

Manipur plans to legalise cannabis for ‘medicinal and industries’ purposes: Biren Singh : Manipur’s (India) Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has said his government is planning to legalise cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes. The chief minister said during a press conference on Saturday that preparations are on to discuss the matter and make a decision in the next state cabinet meeting. He said cultivation of the plant needs to be done systematically so that it can be used strictly for medicinal purposes. He said three states of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have already legalised cannabis for medicinal purposes. Read more

New holography role drives India vehicle Anti-polluting initiative
Against a global backdrop, holograms are finding new commercial outlets as effective
weapons in the battle against counterfeiting and anti-tampering, offering product authentication benefits to governments and those responsible for law enforcement. However, the technology’s capacity to re-invent itself, driven on through innovation and imaginative thinking, is enabling commercial holography to spread its international appeal and capacity to open-up new avenues of opportunity in places like India, where it’s finding a new role stuck on the windscreens of the country’s millions of vehicles. The Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has looked to the flexibility of holograms in a new move to tackle the issue of vehicle fuel pollution - in dozens of states across the country, people are being urged to ensure that they comply with a Supreme Court directive to use colour-coded hologram stickers to identify the type of fuel used in their vehicles. Fake spare parts’ growth beats auto sales 
The Rs 22,000-crore counterfeit auto parts industry — growing faster than car and bike sales, and which doubled in the last five years — is giving headaches to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). According to the Authentication Solution Providers’ Association (ASPA), the overall counterfeit product industry in India is worth Rs 1 lakh crore, causing the government tax losses of Rs 40,000 crore.
