Hike NS and its NS Walks program invite you to celebrate walking and how it connects us on Nova Scotia Walk Day happening on Wednesday, May 11. Host or participate in a short, gentle walk to bring people together in your community with this easy to organize event.
The Hiking Summit is filling up! Hike Nova Scotia’s ninth annual Hiking Summit happens June 3 to 5 in Chéticamp. A celebration of hiking culture, it includes workshops, hiking stories, networking and hikes. It is hosted by Hike NS, Les Hikers Club and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Registration is $40 to $65, plus meals. If it does not sell-out (it likely will...), registration will close on May 25.
Our schedule for spring and fall in-person courses and workshops will be available later in April!
Trail Builders Network Launches
Hike NS is launching its Trail Builders Network, a capacity building hub for those that build and maintain hiking trails. Hike NS represents the largest group of trail users, so we're upping our game to better support the folks that make our trails possible! Stay tuned for webinars and in-person trail building workshops this spring and fall. Trail groups, First Nations and municipalities that become Hike NS group members can take webinars for free and trail building workshops at reduced rates.
City Nature Challenge Apr 29-May 2
Three areas in NS are registered for the global City Nature Challenge (CNS) from April 29 to May 2. During the CNC get outdoors, hike favourite trails or explore new ones. Plan your adventures today: choose a route, collaborate with others and try to cover as many trails as possible in your area. Observe nature: wildlife is all around, take photos and share observations with iNaturalist.ca.
