Walk For Life West Coast Pre-Walk Gathering - January 20

2024 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Walk for Life West Coast - 20 years of standing for the littlest and most vulnerable among us! Join our brothers and sisters for the walk this January, and come early for the Pre-Walk Gathering.

Agnus Dei Lutheran Classical Academy Open House

Agnus Dei Lutheran Classical Academy, a new day school of Lutheran Church of Our Savior of Cupertino, CA, seeks to partner with families to provide children a classical, traditional, Lutheran Christian education. Remembering the Tragedy in Lahaina

Pastor Mitch and Nancy Gowen and DCE Kayla Lohman visited the memorial site of the 99 people who died in the Lahaina fire. This memorial was set up through the efforts of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Maui with assistance from Lutheran Church Charities. Goodfellows Construction on Maui has allowed for the use of the land and which the memorial was placed.

Kayla wrote a Psalm on each one, while Nancy and Pastor Gowen wrote Isaiah 43 and said a short prayer over each cross. Pastor Gowen noted that even months laster, the damage is still quite palpable. He was able to talk to one of the families living on the beach and learn how this tragedy continues to affect them.

Song Release Party at Prince of Peace

A new song from The Songwriter Initiative will be released January 19, 2024. This song, “God Who Bleeds” features Cara Berg, Director of Worship Arts and Music from Prince of Peace Church and School in Fremont, CA. Everyone is welcome to attend the release party.

The Songwriter Initiative of the Center for Worship Leadership (Concordia University – Irvine) exists to support modern songwriters serving within the LCMS church body and seeks to be a positive resource and influence for those writing for the church-at-large.

Pastor Joe Robb Accepts Call to Our Savior, Livermore, CA

The CNH District has been blessed to have Pastor Joe Robb on staff these past four years in his role as CNH District Mission Executive. He has been a blessing to the work of the CNH District office and to the District's congregations. 

President Mike Lange comments: "Although we will miss Joe’s presence in our office and the support he provided as a valued staff member, we are pleased for Our Savior, Livermore and the Robb family. Joe and Sarah believe strongly that God is moving them towards long-term ministry at Our Savior and we believe their family will be a blessing to Our Savior. We thank God that Joe will remain a valuable colleague in the CNH District." 

Pastor Robb will complete his work for the CNH District in early January and will be installed as Our Savior’s pastor on January 14, 4 pm.

Called to Glory Notifications

As pillars of the faith get called back to their heavenly home, we want to honor and acknowledge the legacy they leave behind and the impact they had within our congregations. If you would like to include any upcoming memorials, please click here to send the name, date of death, and date of service so that we may include them in an upcoming issue of the InTouch. Rev. Eugene Davidenas, pastor emeritus, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 21. Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 42 Summit Street, Jackson, CA, on January 8, 2024, at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 12pm. Christian burial will take place at Sunset View Cemetery, 10200 Highway 88, Jackson, CA.  Click here to view his obituary.
