Our Summer Nights series concludes this Thursday at the Mission Playhouse with a free outdoor show by Kiki Ebsen at 6:30 p.m. With seven albums, Ebsen has spent over twenty years touring with Grammy-award winning artists, including Al Jarreau, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald.

City Council approves Parks and Open Space Master Plan
In development since 2016, the City’s Parks and Open Space Master Plan was unanimously approved by the City Council at last night’s meeting in a new resolution.

As part of the planning process, staff from Community Services, Public Works and Community Development worked closely with GreenPlay to develop a park plan based on input from residents and stakeholders on San Gabriel’s parks, services and programs.
Join Kiki Ebsen this Thursday at the Playhouse
San Gabriel's Summer Nights series concludes this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with a jazz concert at the Mission Playhouse featuring vocalist Kiki Ebsen with Jeff Colella on piano, Bob Sheppard on saxophone, Granville "Danny" Young on acoustic bass and Kendall Kay on drums.
Walk to Los Angeles this Saturday
Follow the historic route that was taken by Los Pobladores when they first set out in September 1781 this Saturday at the San Gabriel Mission.

The adventure begins on August 25 at 6:00 a.m. Participants will head for nine miles along Mission Road into Los Angeles, concluding at the El Pueblo Historical Monument at Olvera Street.
Enjoy a show at the Long Beach Petroleum Club
with Frank, Sammy and Judy
Join Community Services and enjoy a lunchtime show with a blast from the past. Visit the historic Petroleum Club in Long Beach for a plated lunch and a live tribute of the Sammy Davis Jr. Variety Show from the 1960s on September 12.

Learn more about arthritis on September 27
Do you know someone that suffers from arthritis and would like better ways to manage it? As part of Active Aging Week, Community Services will be hosting an arthritis presentation courtesy of HealthCare Partners.

The presentation will be held on September 27 in the Padillo Room at the Adult Recreation Center located at 324 South Mission Drive from 12:30 pm. to 2:00 p.m.
San Gabriel receives another historic preservation award
Good news: the City has received another award for its historic preservation ordinance - this time from the California Preservation Foundation. In a news release, the foundation notes that the City's ordinance is "an important contribution to the preservation of our state’s rich and diverse historic resources."

Recipients are selected by a jury of top professionals in the fields of architecture, planning, engineering and history. Click the link below to learn more.
New concrete girders delivered to Alhambra Wash Bridge
If you've passed along the new Alhambra Wash Bridge, you might have noticed several new concrete girders at the project site. Delivered from Perris, California, each of these girders weighs approximately 20,000 pounds.

A total of 17 prestressed girders will be integrated in the replacement bridge. Check out the photos below to see the bridge's latest progress.
Dumpling and Beer Fest to take place October 4
Save the date: this year's Dumpling and Beer Fest takes place on October 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. San Gabriel is known for its delicious, authentic Asian cuisine and one of the hottest foods in the City is dumplings.

Beer tasting wristbands are also available for sale here, including a special early bird special.
