Walker Flags       Largest Flag Dealer in KY Since 1960September  2013

Walker Flags has experienced many changes in recent months.  The most significant change has been the loss of our flag matriarch, Lorretta (see article below).  The second big change for us is a move to a new location.

For the first time in 53 years, Walker Flags has moved its office.  We are now located at 8134 New LaGrange Rd, Suite 200, Louisville, KY  40222.  We are on the first floor of a brick office building named Lyndon Square - with plenty of parking.   For more detailed information, and directions, see our website:   www.walkerflags.com

We know we will be more convenient for many of our customers, and not quite as convenient for many.  We hope you understand that this was a necessary change for Walker Flags.  We are working on making this new office as warm, friendly, and interesting as our homestead of 53 years.  Any questions, please call us at 502-366-6516 or email us at customercare@walkerflags.com

Lorretta Walker, Flag Matriarch, Dies

Lorretta Walker snapshotOur beloved mother, flag matriarch, and co-founder of Colonel Walker Flag Company died on June 5, 2013.  It has taken me this long to pass along this information, because it is a very hard thing to write about.  Mother was out in the office with us every day until about six weeks before her death.  She was 88 years old - and had one of the sharpest business and legal minds I have ever known.

I picked this photo of her - one that was in the Courier Journal's Small Business "Snapshot" article a couple of years ago - because it surrounds her with the USA Flag.  Mother loved the flag business!  Many of you may know that our parents started out as Independent Insurance Agents - and the flag business was one of many entrepreneurial endeavors that my father delved into!  They started selling flags in 1960 in their Sporting Goods Store - and this sideline  business stuck.  Mother and Daddy  loved selling flags - as they were both so patriotic, and community and civic minded.  After our father died in 1997 -  any one who thought maybe the flag company wouldn't carry on - were very mistaken.  Mother took charge - bought a Cadillac - put "The Boss" on the front plate - and had a ball running the flag company.    Even after Donna and I took over the management of the company in 2006 -  mother was a very integral part of our daily operations and decisions.   She will be greatly missed.

This life changing event brought about the move of the flag company to a new location.  We have been on New LaGrange Road for two weeks now.  Please call us at 502-394-1474 (our old no. 366-6516 also still works!) if you have any
questions, or need directions.  We are still hanging "pictures" - but look forward to your visit to our new place.

With much reverence for my mother, and appreciation of her fortitude and skills, I write this note to you today.

Sincerely,

Dana Walker Butz
