Accepting Applications for the 2019 - 2020 Season

Sponsored by the  Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce Leadership Contra Costa sm (LCC), the Bay Area's premier countywide leadership program, accepts 28-32 individuals from throughout the county with diverse backgrounds to participate in the program. LCC is geared to people who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work.  
For more than 30 years Leadership Contra Costasm has been helping identify and prepare community leaders. With an alumni roster of more than 800 graduates, including Mayor of Walnut Creek Cindy Silva, former Mayors Loella Haskew, Justin Wedel, and Kathy Hicks, former Assemblywoman Lynne Leach, former Concord Mayor, Lou Rosas; Martinez Mayor Rob Schroder; and Ret. Superior Court Judge Harlan Grossan, this program has proven to be an asset to the community and society.

The fifth annual Walnut Creek Oktoberfest returns Saturday, October 19 to beautiful Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. This popular community event offers fun for the entire family and attracts nearly 10,000 attendees from all over the East Bay to enjoy a robust Bier Garden, international music and top local bands, gourmet food, arts and crafts booths, Kinder Platz/Kids Zone, Autobahn, and special attractions.

Painted Pianos
Walnut Creek Downtown is proud to announce a new musical art project called, "Painted Pianos!" Eight pianos will be donated by Steinway Piano Gallery and hand-painted by local artists on site, in downtown Walnut Creek and the Center for Community Arts' Shadelands campus courtyard. Artists will paint their assigned pianos September 3-8 & leave them for the public to enjoy. The pianos will be strategically placed for the public to play September 9-October 18. Live performances by professionals and/or special guests appearances will take place every Tuesday (September 10, 17, 24 & October 1, 8, 15) from 12-1pm at three locations: 1655 N. Main St., 1501 Locust St., and 1328 N. Main St.

The project goal is to bring community members together to create musical memories in Downtown Walnut Creek! This is a collaborative effort presented by Walnut Creek Downtown, the City of Walnut Creek and Steinway Piano Gallery. Program funding generously provided by local business and individuals sponsors.
