This year's Leadership Contra Costasm class met earlier this month for an in-depth session on k-12 education in Contra Costa. Boy Scout Troop 302, Walnut Creek kicked-off the day by leading the group in the pledge of allegiance. The session included guest speakers addressing education policies and performance, budget, special education and family rights, and school safety. One of the day's highlights was a culinary tour and lunch prepared by the students of Serendipity Restaurant, who hosted the class at their Mt. Diablo High School campus. The restaurant is part of the Concord school's International Hospitality and Tourism Academy.

If you are interested in finding out more about the program, contact Marcie Hochhauser, SVP, Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau on (925) 934-2007.
