The City of Lebanon has been working with PENNDOT and the Federal Highway Administration to resurface SR422 and SR72 in the City of Lebanon. The resurfacing will take place in four phases. In general:

  • Phase 1: Walnut Street from 12th Street to 5th Ave
  • Phase 2: 10th Street from the city line north of Coleman Memorial Park on Maple Street to Poplar Street
  • Phase 3: 9th Street from Colebrook Road to Maple Street
  • Phase 4: Cumberland Street from S 5th Ave to 16th Street
Below is the timeline for Phase 1 - Walnut Street. This is scheduled to begin this month. Please note that all work is weather dependent and schedules may change or shift accordingly.
Any questions on this project should be directed to the Department of Public Works, 717-228-4490. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we restore the street’s structural integrity. Pretty soon it will be smooth riding!

Milling - The process of using a milling machine to remove a section of pavement. Milling is often used to recycle a road surface, the removed pavement then ground up as aggregate for fresh concrete.

Scratch Coat - The first coat of plaster, which is scratched to form a bond for a second coat.

Loop Sensors - Loop Sensors are embedded in the pavement to send a signal to the traffic control system to indicate the presence of a vehicle.

Overlay/Resurfacing - The process of paving another layer of asphalt over existing pavement.
