When: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025
Where: TBD in the Tampa Bay area
Cost: Complimentary. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.
Did you know that 86% of B2B buyers don’t see any difference between vendors? Fortunately, there is a formula to impress buyers and leave a lasting impression during those networking events and sales meetings.
Our guest speaker, who is joining us from Toronto, Canada, spent 20 years buying services for giants like Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Frito-Lay, Diageo, Playtex and BIC. Now she teaches small business owners how to sell to corporations.
Here's what some participants said they learned from Chala's presentation after the Orlando session:
- Ways I can tailor my pitch to who I'm speaking with and add their context to what I say.
- Stop talking about myself and what we do, and become obsessed with a client problem.
- 3 questions to ask myself to niche down on my short pitch.
- Focus on one industry at a time as my target market.
- Take a shotgun versus cannon approach.
- I really appreciated the interactive piece! It was helpful to hear everyone's feedback.

Be Intentional About
Your Social Media Posts
If you are like most small business owners, you’ve been running your company and not paying too much attention to your LinkedIn profile and pages.
A solid LinkedIn presence can help you target new clients and get the lowdown on your competitors. Publishing content on LinkedIn can give you expert status to make you and your business stand out.
Here are five things you can do to make the most of your LinkedIn profile and improve your visibility:
-
Update your photo. If it’s more than five years old, get a new one. This is the first thing people see, so make it count.
-
Join groups. Be strategic. Which groups can you count on for industry expertise, thought leadership, innovation and creativity?
-
Use multimedia to your advantage. Link your profile to your videos, PowerPoint presentations, and photos of your events, awards and accomplishments.
-
Review your LinkedIn URL. First name/last name usually work, but if you have a common name then consider adding a middle name or a title such as such as Speaker, such as NancyGAllenSpeaker.
-
Rethink your headline/title. LinkedIn defaults to your current job title. You can change that. Be creative! You can even ask ChatGPT or another AI tool to help pull words from your resume for a more exciting title.
Want to learn more? Read the other five tips from Chapter #11 in The Decision to Scale: 25 Tips for Women-Owned Businesses Looking to Grow by our President and CEO, Nancy G. Allen. All proceeds from the book go back to WBEC Florida to support small businesses.
